Ecobonus 2022 per moto e scooter elettrici: via alle prenotazioni il 19 ottobre thumbnail

This is a period of strong increases for domestic users and beyond. But also of incentives and bonuses that can give partial relief to consumers.

We talked about the eco-bonus for electric motorcycles and scooters in an article published at the beginning of the year.

The measure, already included by the Conte government in the 2021 Budget Law, has been extended until 2026 with a total budget, as we shall see, of 150 million euros.

For the 2022 eco-bonus dedicated to the purchase of electric motorcycles and scooters, we are here: from 10 am on Wednesday 19 October it will be possible to access the platform that the Mise (ministry for economic development) has prepared ad hoc.

Let’s find out what the 2022 eco-bonus for electric motorcycles and scooters is and who is entitled to it. Finally, let’s see how to request it.

The 2022 eco-bonus for electric motorcycles and scooters

We said that the allocation of 150 million euros for the eco-bonus will spread until 2026.

More precisely, 20 million have been allocated for the three years from 2021 to 2023, and 30 million for the following three-year period 2024-2026.

The measure is in favor of the purchase of a specific series of two-wheeled vehicles. Here are which ones.

Which vehicles to buy

With the ecobonus for electric motorcycles and scooters it is possible to buy new factory mopeds and motorcycles of categories L1e, L2e, L3e, L4e, L5e, L6e, L7e. The vehicle can be with two, three or four wheels, and without power limits.

The vehicle, in addition to being new, must have been purchased in Italy from May 16, 2022 to December 31, 2022, and also registered in our country.

Who can benefit from the bonus for electric motorcycles and scooters

Anyone who purchases mopeds and motorcycles with the features described above, without income limitations, can benefit from the bonus.

However the measure is limited only to natural persons, who will have to keep ownership of the vehicle for at least twelve months, even if the purchase will be made through financial leasing.

For joint purchases, only one name can be entered when booking the incentive. And that is that of the owner of the vehicle registered with the Civil Motorization.

How much is the contribution?

The percentage of the contribution varies whether a vehicle is scrapped or not. Who will make the purchase without scrapping, will be entitled to a 30% incentive, with a maximum spending ceiling of 3,000 euros.

The percentage of the incentive rises to 40%, and the maximum ceiling goes from 3,000. 4.0000 euros, for those who scrape a vehicle of the same category, homologated 0, 1, 2 or 3 euros. Furthermore, the vehicle that is scrapped must belong to the person making the purchase of a new vehicle, or to a family member who has lived with it for at least 12 months.

How to claim the bonus

Dealers will request the eco-bonus for electric motorcycles and scooters.

First, the sellers must have registered in the area of the Mise platform dedicated to the Ecobonus. By accessing the space reserved for them, they will be able to book the contributions relating to each individual vehicle, obtaining a booking registration receipt.

The dealer will pay the customer the contribution in the form of a discount on the purchase price of the vehicle. The manufacturers or importers of the vehicle will then reimburse the seller the amount of the contribution. Which in turn they will recover in the form of a tax credit.

Who scraps?

If the dealer cannot take care of the demolition of the old vehicle (for example for reasons of distance), the customer will take care of it.

Who will then have to transmit to the dealer the document of taking charge of the vehicle at the end of its life by the wrecker, and the request for cancellation for demolition at the motorist’s telematic counter.

The document must be sent within 15 days, otherwise the discount will not be paid.

Click day risk

On one page, the ministry for economic development specifies that contributions for the purchase of electric motorcycles and scooters will be disbursed “based on the availability of the fund”. Evidently, therefore, only the first to register will be able to benefit from the bonus.

Assuming an average discount of 2,000 euros on the price of the vehicle, and knowing that the total budget is 20 million, 10,000 citizens will be able to benefit from the incentive.

A similar thing happened with another click day, that of last May 16, relating to the purchase of cars and motorcycles. Back then, the credit limit was used up within a few hours.

And the 10 million euros earmarked for motorcycles and thermal scooters (i.e. those falling into categories L1e, L2e, L3e, L4e, L5e, L6e, L7) were the first to be eroded.
