Elden Ring’s Just-Announced Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion Promises “New Adventures in Middle-Earth,” with First Concept Art Showcasing a Dark and Twisted Tree
Bandai Namco e FromSoftware have announced Shadow of the Erdtree, the first expansion for Elden Ring. No release date has been given, but some concept art has been shown with the promise of walking a “new path together” and having “new adventures in Middle Earth.” It was a long-awaited announcement that finally arrived and brought a lot of hype to the 2022 GOTY community.

The image seems to hint at a new character, who is seen riding a ghostly steed while various wandering tombstones surround him. In the distance is a tree, but darker and twisted. It could be another one Erdtreealthough it is not yet clear what secrets does it hide (especially regarding the functioning of the currently known Erdtree).

Several dataminers have discovered 30 new flags for potential boss fights and possible ray tracing support, but whether the expansion will implement them remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime. Elden Ring is available for Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PC etogether with the basic version, this will be added expansion.
