In the past few hours, From Software announced record sales of Elden Ring, which has quickly become the new largest IP in Europe since 2016.

The wait seems to have amply repaid both gamers and From Software, which three weeks after its launch has reached such high numbers with Elden Ring as to make it the most successful new IP in Europe since 2016. Not just rankings, anyway. Elden Ring also achieved, within a few weeks, the record of 12 million copies sold, as announced by From Software itself and the publisher, Bandai Namco. The sales obviously refer to all the platforms on which the title is available, that is PC and Xbox and PlayStation consoles, but it is still an incredible record, considering its speed. For example, Dark Souls 3 at the last official count had sold a total of 10 million copies.

What a comment like this actually means will only be told by time, the fact is that the hype and expectations, in the case of Elden Ring, have proved to be at least satisfied, albeit with some critical issues, and sales seem to amply demonstrate this.
