Recently a rumor is bouncing on the Net: Sony would be considering the acquisition of FromSoftware, the authors of Elden Ring
The last years of FromSoftware have been characterized by incredible success: the most recent title from the developer, Elden Ringhas sold over 12 million copies in less than a month, given this premise, it is not too surprising that it is rumored that the studio in question is destined for an acquisition by Sony. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.
FromSoftware, the Elden Ring software house, will be acquired by Sony, at least according to a well-known analyst
Kantan Games CEO and analyst Serkan Toto on Twitter said that in the future FromSoftwarethe study of Elden Ring and the Souls saga, could be acquired by Sony. According to the analyst, the current parent company Kadokawa Corporation “bought shares in the developer for the equivalent of $ 22.5 million today. So in 2014 From’s valuation was well below 30 million dollars ”. In short, a figure that was probably already quite “small” when compared to the potential revenues of the Japanese studio’s productions.
1) One of my favorite studios, Tokyo-based FromSoftware, is currently rumored to be an M&A candidate for Sony.
Here is a quick run-down of its weird background feat. pigs, right-wing newspapers, Toyota and the metaverse.
And their early valuation… unspeakable.

Although technically it is not impossible for the studio to be sold, to be a “candidate” from an acquisitions perspective it certainly does not necessarily translate into an agreement made it’s over. FromSoftware could very well be considered for acquisition along with many other studios. So, while Sony’s interest is certainly a determining factor, for now consider everything with due precautions.
If the rumor were to translate into reality, however, it would certainly be interesting to see the results of the acquisition. Who knows? Maybe we could finally get that Bloodborne sequel / remake / remaster we’ve been talking about for some time.
