Epos H3 Hybrid review: the headphones you don’t expect

In this article we will go to see the review of the Epos H3 Hybrid. Epos had already won us over with its products but being able to innovate a market is never easy, will it be successful?

The Epos H3 Hybrid are very special headphones that try to unite two worlds that increasingly tend to merge into a single hemisphere. What is certain is that finding a pair of headphones suitable for PC gaming (or consoles) that can also be used on mobile devices is really a particular choice.

We learned about Epos on our pages through the review of the Epos H6 PRO in the two open and closed variants. They impressed us greatly and we appreciated them in both variants. Now is the time to figure out if this hybrid version also lives up to expectations.

Materials always at the top | Epos H3 Hybrid Review

Cas for the Epos H3 also in this version we cannot skimp on the compliments to Epos for the choice of materials and for the attention to detail.

The materials chosen for these headphones are the same that we find in the other models. A solid and well-covered headband with an imitation leather material in the part in contact with the head, and in fabric for the rest that hides a metal core.

The pavilions are enveloping and comfortable exactly as we expected them. The convenience of these headphones is only matched by their design. In our case, we had the headset in white for our tests from Epos, but you can also buy it in black.

In order not to get confused, it is good to remember that this variant is in a closed version, probably the most sought after choice by gamers.

Design and packaging | Epos H3 Hybrid Review

The design of these headphones in pure Epos style makes them captivating and unique at the same time. Few frills and a lot of quality, here is the combination chosen for this headset.

The white color makes these headphones special but remember that you can also choose them in the classic black. We find the excellent solution for the positioning of the 3.5mm jack and the removable microphone. Also not to be underestimated is a second integrated microphone that will allow you to interact with the party, or during a call, even without the main microphone.

In short, the winning design that we appreciated so much in the other models is revisited, without upsetting, in this hybrid version.

How do these headphones sound? | Epos H3 Hybrid Review

As for the overall dedicated to audio we can safely say that we are facing a pair of headphones that are unrivaled in this price range.

Even when the volume is turned up a lot, there is no distortion of the sounds and the full-bodied bass give a rock soul to these headphones. The higher frequencies are also good and the insulation from external noise sources is excellent.

The sound of each explosion, gunshot or passage of half plane or land is emphasized making it more “colorful”. Overall the audio is really very good, in this price range it was legitimate to expect a refined audio and with these Epos H3 Hybrid we have no complaints.

As expected, these headphones perform at their best in hectic and nuanced situations. Explosions and gunshots are emphasized but even when listening to good music they are equally appreciated, obviously provided that some small compromises are made.

All this is possible even for the generous 40mm drivers.

A headset with many solutions

The name alone should have suggested something and if up to now we have not touched the subject it is only because we wanted to give the right space to the main topic: the available connections.

In fact, in addition to the classic 3.5mm jack that allows us to connect to the PC (with splitter) or to our console (with a single cable for microphone and headphones) we find the possibility of using our Epos H3 Hybrid even on the move. The non-wired connection is possible using a Bluetooth 5.2 system.

The great idea of Epos is to be able to use the headphones simultaneously in a wired and bluetooth way. In a nutshell you can connect the headphones via jack to a device and in which time also connect them via bluetooth to a smartphone or to any emitter that has a bluetooth connection.

Switching from one connection to another remains so easy and fast, obviously to do this you need an integrated battery which fortunately does not exaggerate the weight of the headphones themselves.

Too bad not to find a bluetooth key in the package, we would have liked to have been able to use the headphones wirelessly even on the PC.

Let’s talk about autonomy

The autonomy is quite good, in fact we are talking about 37 hours if used with a single connection. About 24 hours if used with jack connection and 19 hours if used with double connection (bluetooth and wired).

Obviously you will not have escaped the fact that the battery is consumed even when using the headset in a wired connection, the only real big drawback of this solution so complete in terms of connection.

Who should buy these Epos H3 Hybrid?

In conclusion, we would like to recommend these headphones to all audio lovers of a certain level. If you are a multi-platform player, you will also find the possibility of using a single pair of headphones for all your devices very interesting.

The audio in the game is really excellent but even in moments dedicated to music or watching movies or TV series you can safely rely on this headset. Too bad for the lack of a bluetooth key supplied which, however, is easily available with a few euros.

Points in favor

  • Excellent value for money
  • Materiali al Top
  • The possibility of multi-platform is excellent …

Points against

  • even if a bundled Bluetooth dongle is missing
