The protagonist of this review is in fact ERAZER Major X10. ERAZER (sub-brand of Medion dedicated to gaming devices) is a company that certainly offers really competitive laptops.

The Major X10 model features a CPU Intel Core i7-12700H, 32GB DDR5 RAM and, precisely, Intel Arc A730M as regards the graphics sector. All projected onto one display QHD+ con 165 Hz of refresh rate and a resolution of 2560 x 1600p. First look | ERAZER Major X10 Review

The Erazer Major X10 presents itself as a classic gaming laptop which, following tradition, has all the typical characteristics of this category of laptops, with their relative advantages and disadvantages. As a result, it’s not a compact solution, considering its weight about 2.5 kg, not comparable to modern ultrabooks, and a thickness of about 3 cm. However, carrying such a solution may not be comfortable, but certainly easier than a desktop PC. In fact, this laptop also aims to replace a desktop solution in case we are away from home.

That said, and given the nature of this laptop, we can confidently state that the power offered by the Erazer Major X10 can replace fixed solutions in various scenarios. Thus, despite the considerable weight, we will obtain a compromise between portability and power.

Let’s not rush to see the tests we have carried out and the framerates obtained; There is a lot to say about this car. In the first part of the review we will talk about the technical details and our impressions of daily use, while in the second part we will see how the Erazer Major X10 performed in tests and in gaming. In any case, you will be able to consult each topic in its respective chapter. Enjoy the reading.

Aesthetics | ERAZER Major X10 Review

Let’s start with the construction of this notebook. The external body is made almost entirely of satin aluminum in black colour. However, there are plastic components that especially characterize the bottom. Here we find, in addition to the ventilation grilles, two rubber feet that will provide stability to the PC. In general, ERAZER Major X10 has not given us the idea of being a fragile product at all but, on the contrary, oozes solidity from almost every pore.

Speaking of equipment, the right profile accommodates due USB-C 3.2 Gen2 it’s a USB-A 3.2 Gen2. In the back we find the entrance to power the laptop as well as an entrance HDMI 2.0a USB.-A 3.2 Gen2 and theentry for the ethernet cable. There is no entrance jack da 3,5 mm it’s a terza USB-A 3.2 Gen2 which are going to be entered on the left. In short, everything you need to turn your machine into a semi-desktop solution.

Once opened and turned on we will be able to take a look at the screen and keyboard. The display features a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels with 165Hz refresh rate, an aspect ratio of 16:10 with IPS technology. The screen can boast a maximum opening of 180°. Erazer Major X10 mounts a backlit keyboard equipped with a numeric keypad, an American layout which, in our opinion, gives a little nod to keyboards with mechanical switches. The touchpad underneath measures 11.9cm by 6.6cm.

Of course, as with any self-respecting gaming notebook, the ERAZER Major X10 is also equipped with RGB lighting. In addition to the aforementioned keyboard, we have two sorts of crosses on the right and left side, as well as the company logo on the body that can be fully customized with regard to lighting. Thanks to the programMedion Control Center“In fact, we will be able to manage the various LEDs to best orchestrate the aesthetics of the notebook according to our preferences.

Overall, this Erazer model does not surprise visually. It is a classic gaming laptop with square lines. We’re certainly not talking about a clean-lined ultrabook, but that was clear from the start.

User Experience | ERAZER Major X10 Review

Now let’s talk about our experience of using this notebook starting from the keyboard. As we said, in our opinion Erazer has been particularly influenced by mechanical keyboards. The stroke of the keys is quite long compared to classic notebooks and this gives a very special feeling. The “chiclet” feeling convinced us both in the gaming field and in the writing phase. The distance between the keys is perfect and the addition of the keypad is an extra convenience, especially if your goal is also to work with it. Also on the touchpad nothing to say. Although minimal, it turned out to be comfortable and functional, as well as quite precise. nothing to report on the input side.

One of the highlights is definitely the display. In addition to the QHD + resolution, this boasts a brightness that touches 500 nits, a contrast level of 1200:1 and 98% sRGB coverage. In a nutshell this is an excellent display that will accompany us both in the use of films and TV series and in our gaming sessions thanks to the 165Hz refresh rate.

Honorable mention also to the “Nahimic by SteelSeries” loudspeakers. The audio is full-bodied and well balanced. This comes out through two speakers placed on the right and left side and they play well on both the highs and the lows, lightly pressing the accelerator on the latter.

Test | Review ERAZER Major X10

Test CPU

The processor used in this Medion laptop is the Core i7-12700H, which belongs to Intel’s Alder Lake line. This latest generation CPU is based on 10 nanometer technology. The Core i7-12700H is a high-end solution that offers 6 high-performance cores and 8 high-efficiency cores, thanks to Hyper-Threading technology it can handle up to 20 threads simultaneously. During our CPU tests, we found that the Major X10 laptop performed very well even without activating Turbo mode. During the Cinebench R23 benchmark, the processor performance was nothing short of satisfactory.

How does the Intel Arc A730M fare? | ERAZER Major X10 Review

When used in raster, this Arc A730M surprises. Especially if we activate the Turbo mode from the dedicated software, in fact, the performance boost allows us to overcome both GeForce RTX 3060 and Radeon RX 6600M in different scenarios. This is a really great result.

Test in game

We tested this Erazer X10 in several titles with Full HD resolution and ultra details. Here is a graph so you can see the results for yourself and get an idea:

ERAZER Major X10 review: The laptop with Intel ARC

As you can see, the Arc A730M defends itself quite well in FHD, colliding directly with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. Sometimes the GPU, however, shows its still immature nature because of framerate drops, artifacts various mini freeze encountered here and there. In QHD+ it proves to be an unreliable card in gamingcertainly not suitable for supporting high settings, while the resolution of 1920×1080 is certainly its ideal territory.

Battery life

Under the body, ERAZER Major X10 mounts an 80W battery which it allowed us to play Diablo IV in 1080p for about an hour but that, leaving aside the gaming and working in multasking with various web pages open, it manages to guarantee a maximum of 5 hours of use. Those are certainly not noteworthy numbers. Especially if we have to take into account the 300W charger supplied with the laptop. This is in fact really heavy and of huge dimensions. Definitely not easy to carry. In general, on the autonomy side, it disappoints expectations a bit.

Let’s sum up

Generally speaking, the ERAZER Major X10 is a laptop that didn’t fully convince us in the bare-bones gaming arena. It’s true: in raster the Intel Arc A730M’s performance is noteworthy, however the card reveals its shortcomings precisely by testing the various titles. With a framerate often dancer, it will force us to make more than a few adjustments along the way.

However, the laptop especially stands out in media consumption. The stunning QHD+ display and Nahimic by SteelSeries speakers make it a great adventure companion. In our opinion, this ERAZER Major X10 is aimed primarily at users who pay particular attention to the multimedia side and who do not need to play games at any cost.
