Everything we know about the iPhone 14

It’s time to talk about iPhone 14.
That no, it’s not out yet.
And no, we don’t have official information yet.
So what are we left with? A flood of rumors, leaks and forecasts from analysts who give us some useful tips on the next iPhone by.

iPhone 14: how many are there?

Until a few ago it was not a question we had to answer. For years, in fact, Apple has produced only one smartphone, capable of satisfying the needs of millions of users.
Then things changed. The size of the devices has grown but not all consumers have appreciated this choice so Cupertino has decided to diversify its offer by coming to propose 4 different models.
And yes, in 2022 things do not seem destined to change.
Almost.

It seems that the sales of the Mini did not go as hoped so iPhone 14 could arrive in 4 models but without the little one of the house.
Current rumors speak of iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro e iPhone 14 Pro Max.
So what would change in terms of size? iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro should have a 6.1-inch display while with the Max variants the screen could reach 6.7 inches.

Design

iPhone 14 differences iphone 13

No design changes for the iPhone 14. The Apple should revive the lines that have now characterized its top of the range for two generations, even if the materials could change. In fact, we speak of a possible frame in titanium alloy, which would replace the current ones, made of aluminum and steel. What would be the benefits? Titanium is more resistant to shocks, scratches and corrosion.

Rumors want the slightly larger camera moduleenough to justify the production of new covers, and above all the absence of the notch. Or rather, on the iPhone 14 and 14 Max we should still find the same notch, the one we also have on the 13, whileand the Pro models should have a small hole and a pill. Lor we know, they are terrible names but they actually describe the shapes of these two display interrupts well.
Why adopt such a solution? Apple on the one hand is trying to reduce the notch, going to conform a bit with the competition, on the other hand, however, it must keep all the technology necessary for Face ID to work. This would seem to be the result of this compromise but, as anticipated, we are always faced with unofficial information which therefore may not correspond with reality.

Display

iPhone 14 features ProMotion

The four models will have displays from 6.1 and 6.7 in but the refresh rate?
Today iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max boast the technology ProMotion, that is the 120 Hz refresh rate which makes the user experience even smoother.
What will happen with the iPhone by 2022? ProMotion should remain a feature of the Pro models even if rumors suggest the opposite, so with all the iPhone 14 capable of reaching 120 Hz.

The news, however, does not end there. On the Pro models in fact the always-on should comea novelty that fans have been waiting for a long time now.

iPhone 14 features: hardware

Ok the design, ok the display, but under the body?
iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max should fit Apple’s new A16 Bionic processor while the “younger” brothers should re-propose the A15 Bionic that we find today on the iPhone 13.
The difference between the two shouldn’t be huge. The newcomer will certainly be faster but without radically changing the user experience.

To accompany it we should have 6 GB of RAM, the same memory cuts as iPhone 13 (up to 1 TB), Qualcomm’s X65 modem for 5G and WiFi 6E. In addition it should also arrive a vapor chamber cooling system.

Pay attention to the SIM slot because it could disappear. In fact, it seems that Apple has anticipated the arrival of a new smartphone compatible only with eSIMs to American operators. However, this does not mean that there will be only the version without a slot for the physical card, also because in many parts of the world the transition to eSIM is still high, it seems.
Then? At the moment, two versions await us, destined for different markets.

We conclude the technical specifications with battery. According to leaker ShrimpApplePro, the new iPhone 14 should have a 3,279 mAh battery while the Pro model would reach 3,200 mAh. For the Pro Max variant we talk about 4,323 mAh while for the Max one we go up to 4,325 mAh. What changes then? Basically Pro Max loses a little bit (the current one has a 4,352mAh battery) while all other versions boast a larger battery.

Type-Sì o Type-No?

The most observant of you will remember the historic provision of the European Union. For all the others, let’s do a briefing.
In June, the European Parliament and Council reached a historic agreement that provides that, by autumn 2024, the USB-C connector will become the standard for charging electronic devices.
Which would lead us to think that iPhone 14 is the first iPhone with the increasingly popular USB Type-C.
But no.
This step should take place next year, leaving good old Lightning alive for a year.

According to some rumors, Apple is even considering the elimination of physical input in favor of wireless charging with MagSafe. Right now, however, it would seem a bit premature decision so we will hardly see an iPhone 14 without Lightning.

Camera

We expect some news on the photographic front. We talk about an improved ultra-wide angle camera for all models but above all of a 48-megapixel main sensor on the Pro variants. This of course does not mean that we will have significantly heavier photos than the iPhone 13; Apple should use pixel binning, merging 4 pixels into 1, to get 12 megapixel images.

And the videos? Should arrive 8K support. True, the devices that allow native playback in 8K are still very few but it seems that this resolution can be particularly useful for content related to augmented reality or mixed reality. Considering that for some time now we have been talking about Apple’s AR / VR viewer, that of the Apple could be a preparatory move to the launch of the new device.

Finally, news also for the front camera. All models in fact should have new lenses, with autofocus and a larger aperture (F / 1.9), opening that will allow you to capture more light than what is done now by the iPhone 13.

iPhone 14 features: software

On the software front we will certainly have iOS 16, announced in June during Apple’s annual WWDC. You can find here the list of all the news coming to iOS.

Along with the new version of the operating system, a feature related to the accident detection. In essence, Apple should use the accelerometer to detect peaks in gravitational force, which would lead iPhone to alert the rescue by itself.

Colors

iphone 14 colors

Let’s finish with the colors. Here, too, we rely on the rumors they speak of black, white, blue, red and lilac for iPhone 14 and 14 Max while the two Pros should arrive in graphite, gold, silver and lilac variants. Among other things, there are rumors of a lilac that could change slightly color depending on how it is hit by the light.

iPhone 14: release date

When will the iPhone 14 arrive? The presentation should take place in September – as per tradition – con the official market release scheduled for October.

Apple, however, seems to have to deal with the slowdowns and delays dictated by the pandemic. According to the latest rumors, at least one of the four variants seems to be behind with production by 3 weeks, which means that the release will be postponed or that at least the availability at launch will be lower than usual.

iPhone 14: prices

How much will iPhone 14 cost?
Difficult to make predictions in this field but the rumors speak of an increase of 100 euros compared to the prices of the iPhone 13.
To find out, however, we will have to wait for the official release.
