The F1 Russian GP will not take place. His tenure on the 2022/2023 season racing calendar was called into question right at the moment in which Vladimir Putin gave the order to invade Ukraine. Therefore, Formula 1 has decided that, under the current circumstances, there will be no race in Sochi this year.
When the war broke out in the early hours of last Wednesday, the Formula 1 began to assess the consequences of the armed conflict that Russia started by invading Ukraine.
The first to move was the F1 team Haas which has decided to remove all references to Uralkali, a Russian sponsor owned by Dmitry Mazepin. Immediately after the four-time world champion Vettel to take a firm stance: “The news of the attack shocked me. I will not go to Russia for the GP, people will die for a crazy leader ”.
The next action was to organize a meeting between the teams, the FIA and Formula 1 itself to decide what position to take with respect to such an event, especially considering that the Russian Grand Prix should have been held next September.

Finally came the official statement issued by F1 in which he deeply regrets the situation and the armed conflict, as well as stating that in the current circumstances it is impossible to organize the Russian Grand Prix.
