Final Fantasy 16: Square Enix has denied that the game was made with the Unreal Engine and with the Luminous Engine
In a recent preview video, YouTuber Skill Up spoke to the development team at Final Fantasy 16 about the game engine and whether or not this matched the Luminous o all’Unreal Engine: “I asked if the game ran on the Luminous Engine and Square said no; so I asked if the game was developed with Unreal and they said once again no. I asked what the game engine was then and they refused to answer.”
Many have speculated that this is the same engine used in Final Fantasy 14which has a similar structure to Luminous. The latter is known for its use in Final Fantasy 15 and in the recent Forspoken, while theUnreal Engine it was used to Final Fantasy 7 Remake e Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion.
Final Fantasy 16 will be launched June 22nd around the world for PS5. Unless a catastrophe strikes Square Enix, like a “meteorite crashing down on our headquarters in Japan,” as producer Naoki Yoshida puts it, there should be no delays.
