A dataminer has examined the game files of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, finding in the same various references to a potential Steam version
Final Fantasy 7 Remake has finally become available on PC last week after being exclusive to PlayStation since its launch in 2020. The highly acclaimed Square Enix title is currently only available via Epic Games Store. If you are a user of the Steam platform, however, it seems that you may not have to wait very long for the chance to own the game in question. Well according to a rumor circulated on the net in the last few hours Final Fantasy 7 Remake it could even come up Steam. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake: the title could follow the path of many other exclusive Epic Games Store
As noted by the user @AtelierTool on Twitter, which made a datamining in files and folders in the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the game should also land on Steam since in the aforementioned files there are also references to the Valve platform. This in itself is already a reliable enough source to establish that the game will eventually come to the latter platform as well, but should you feel like doing a “cross-check” of theApp ID for the title in question found in those files with that AppID on the site SteamDB, you will find a web page, which the SteamDB staff (who are not affiliated with Valve, mind you) have already marked as Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Of course, most of the games that launch as Epic Games Store exclusives eventually also make it to Steam (if not all). In general, the period of exclusivity for such games it tends to be understood between 6 and 12 months, though it remains to be seen how long it will take before Final Fantasy 7 Remake moves to Steam.
Obviously, the role-playing game we are talking about has already caused a lot of controversy about its debut in the PC version.
