Final Fantasy XVI is in the final stages of development
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the game in action. In December 2021, it was confirmed by Square Enix that the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on development leading to a production delay of approximately six months. The software house has promised updates this spring so we should hear about the game again soon.
“Final Fantasy XVI aims to integrate the story and the single player game experience – Yoshida explains in the interview – Unlike online, which has a focus on multiple players at the same time, Final Fantasy XVI focuses on the individual. This makes the story more engaging. It’s a very dense story ”.
The designer then went on to explain the details of the problems related to the pandemic:
“The last time we spoke, I promised that I would have more information about Final Fantasy XVI later in 2021. However, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to deliver on this promise as the complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic in progress have delayed the development of the game by almost a year and a half ”.
