A historic partnership, which will make you happy many Formula 1 fans. The stable AlphaTauri has in fact joined forces with Catawiki, a leading company for the sale of special objects, with the aim of creating five special auctions, dedicated to real memorabilia from the team’s history. Among the most eagerly awaited, even a real single-seater, directly from the 2016 race circuits.
AlphaTauri and Catawiki together with many memorabilia for enthusiasts
I am over 300 special items, selected from the Alpha Tauri archive by Catawiki’s motorsport experts, which will be auctioned in the coming months. The first lot of 70 items is already ready on the platform and Formula 1 lovers can make their offer on the memorabilia they most want. The deadline is set at July 12thwhen will this first phase close.
There is a huge choice for enthusiasts. As anticipated, the most desired piece is definitely the single-seater STR11. This is the same car that brought AlphaTauri (still known as Toro Rosso at the time) to an extraordinary seventh place, also thanks to the performance of its drivers: Daniil Kvyat, Carlos Sainz and the now legendary Max Verstappen has since become a two-time world champion.
Other memorabilia of this athlete can also be found among the pieces up for auction on Catawiki. For example, there is a own rear rim of the STR11used during a 2016 race. Or you can grab one too complete competition suit by Verstappenwith all its components. And obviously there is not only the current champion among the protagonists of this auction.
After all, many extraordinary talents have passed through AlphaTauri over the years and therefore there is no shortage of memorabilia dedicated to them. Why not take for example a front wing of Pierre Gasly’s car of 2021? Or the suit of Daniel Ricciardo of 2012? Without forgetting the current AlphaTauri pilots, Nyck de Vries e Yuki Tsunodawho took a break from their preparation for the Austrian GP to speak at the presentation of this partnership.
Five auctions, for five key moments
As anticipated, the first Catawiki auction dedicated to AlphaTauri is already open and will continue until 12 July. It is a very special event, which will also have a charity aspect. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Municipality of Faenza for rescue operations following the floods that recently hit Romagna.
After all, the AlphaTauri headquarters is located right in the Romagna town, where it has been an institution since the days of Minardi. On the occasion of this presentation we had the opportunity to visit this site and find out everything about how a car for Formula 1 is born and how much continuous research is necessary. More than 600 people they are continuously active to study the materials, test them and prepare what is needed to face the competitions.
And of course life is particularly hectic these days, with the Austrian Grand Prix at the starting blocks (for now only metaphorically). During the visit we also had the opportunity to To see live the car that will be on the track in the next few days and which will have a special detail: the Catawiki logo will in fact be stamped on the external Halo of the AlphaTauri cars for this and the Dutch GPs.
They will be held in the coming months other auctions dedicated to the Romagna team. The appointment is fixed for August, September, November and December, in conjunction with key moments of the motoring season. In these cases, the proceeds will be donated in part to Wings for Lifea non-profit foundation dedicated to spinal cord injury research.
Catawiki and AlphaTauri, together for passion
This is undoubtedly a project that is going to touch the strings of enthusiasts. And that’s exactly why Franz TostTeam Principal of AlphaTauri is so pleased with the collaboration with Catawiki, as he explained:
