If the priority goes entirely to Final Fantasy XVI, the other projects take a back seat: a rumor promises an air of postponement for Forspoken
We all know this month we should have been able to get our hands on Forspokenbut the 11th of October may not be the last postponement if Square-Enix decides to bet everything on Final Fantasy XVI. He was the well-known insider (and co-founder of XboxEra) Nick Baker to air this hypothesis that already worries the fandom of the roleplaying titan. According to Baker, a new delay is possible, should the publisher ever decide an all-in with the development of the sixteenth chapter of their flagship series. This is not confirmed information, but “only” a risk made tangible by the multiple references to which the Japanese company has accustomed us.
If Final Fantasy XVI plays early, Forspoken risks being postponed
Quoting the statement verbatim, “There is the possibility of a new postponement for Forspoken, but it is conditional as it depends on how much [Square-Enix] be sure to release Final Fantasy XVI this year. ” Apparently, the publisher is managing the progress in the development of the sixteenth episode of the fantasy epic. As Zalker 87 noted in the podcast, it is possible that in toto-priority the fame of the IP and, as often happens with Square, the reputation of the IP play a role (pun not intended).PS5 exclusivity of this new project. In reality, even the title at risk of delay boasts its good dose of exclusivity, but since it is an unprecedented IP it is possible that the extra time (whether it is a pretext to put FF16 in the fast lane or not) will not deny it to anyone. After all, in the best (for impatient fans) of the hypotheses, it would still be two ambitious and expensive projects with two simultaneous development cycles. The producer of the sixteenth title in the Square-Enix franchise, Naoki Yoshida, however, spoke of an almost complete development, with a trailer coming “soon”. To quantify the “soon”, however, we will have to wait.
