The publication of Frostpunk, a peculiar post apocalyptic city builder with survival elements who has been able to win the hearts of many fans of the genre, also thanks to its moral choices capable of putting players in crisis. After the success of this first chapter, it was reasonable to expect then a sequel: it was recently presented by 11 bit studios, Frostpunk 2 announcement trailer, which contains various details on what to expect from this sequel.
Frostpunk 2: the effects of the ice age according to the announcement trailer
The announcement trailer, lasting 1 minute and 30 seconds, shows only one scene, thanks to which, however, we can already get an idea of one of the innovations that will be introduced in Frostpunk 2. These are the oil pumps that we can see present in the background, which suggest a concentration also on the aspect of oil research. Looking at the description of the trailer and the official website, we also learn that this sequel is set 30 years later the arrival of the storm that caused the enormous glaciation.
As reported on the site, the goal is to do something more than just a sequel. According to the words of Jakub Stokalski, co-director of Frsotpunk 2:
Frostpunk 2 is based on the conflicts present in its predecessor: survival against human moral values, such as life against the Arctic frost. But most importantly, it adds a new level of conflict present in many aspects of the game: the conflict between human beings and their nature, be it politics, society or technological progress.
In fact, in Frostpunk 2 there will be various factions who will fight for their own demands, leading players to have to make sacrifices.
Frostpunk 2 will be released for PC, to be precise through Steam, Epic Games Store e GOG. The video trailer didn’t reveal any official launch window, so fans just have to wait for more updates. In the meantime, remember that the first Frostpunk is available for free on the Epic Games Store until August 16, and that the Season Pass and the Game of the Year Edition of the title are also discounted.
