In fact, during the weekend the title of Santa Monica Studios reached a whopping 75,000 active players at the same time, breaking the previous record of Horizon Zero Dawn, another Sony exclusive that arrived late on PC.
God of War on PC is a hit
An old saying goes that preparation is the mother of success, and that’s exactly what happened with the port of God of War to PC, as this version of the Santa Monica masterpiece was in development for a full two years before it was released. published, probably also to avoid the disaster we saw with the port of Horizon Zero Dawn.
To confirm the duration of the work on the transposition are Matt DeWald and Steve Tolin, developers of Jetpack Interactive, in an interview with Digital Foundry. Although the team of this software house is rather small, the success of the work on God of War was possible thanks to the support of the guys from Santa Monica and PlayStation Studios, who contributed to the port as best they could.
It is no coincidence that it was Santa Monica who started experimenting already in 2019 in the direction of a possible porting on PC, until it was decided to create a version of the title that was technically superior to its incarnation seen on PlayStation 4.
Digital Foundry has confirmed that entire parts of the game code have been rewritten to better adapt to the new platform, as well as having added support for technologies such as AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and NVIDIA DLSS. To complete it all, there are ad hoc solutions designed to optimize the performance of God of War on PC, which definitively sealed the success of this version of the game.
