With these words pronounced in his unmistakable style, greeted by an ovation from the audience, Paolo Bonolis presented the last episode of Ciao Darwin on 23 February 2024. The final three hours of a broadcast that was often at the center of criticism and controversy, but which undoubtedly made the history of Italian television, photographing society and its evolution, were followed by a fifth of Italians according to audience share data.

At the Production Center Titan Elios of Rome, the curtain falls on 25 years of entertainment, with a challenge between the past and present of the program. Captains of the two teams: Alex Belli and Daniela Martani. Already at the end of the season’s recordings, Paolo Bonolis had already announced that the program would end. For him, a new chapter of life and new stimuli are coming.
This is the latest edition. I thank you for providing me with all the necessary weapons so that everything went well. Difficult things happen in life, bad things that we tend to forget. Instead, let’s remember the good ones. This means that I will always remember you.
Summing up a more than long-lived show, it happened yesterday space also for greetings. The host wanted to reserve a special one for Daughter. A public demonstration of love for the girl, of whom Bonolis has always spoken with great discretion. Since her birth, Silvia has suffered from neurological system problems due to cardiac difficulties.
Naturally Paolo Bonolis reserved the greatest thanks to his colleague of a thousand adventures Luca Laurenti, with whom he wrote pages of TV history. The format, created by Paolo Bonolis and Stefano Magnaghigave iconic moments over the nine editions broadcast from 3 October 1998 to, indeed, 23 February 2024, for a total of 103 episodes. We will soon see what the next page in the career of the Roman showman, one of the most famous faces of Italian TV, will be.
