You.com sfida Google con un nuovo look e una modalità privata thumbnail

Google changes the design of the Main News

Lately Google renewed the Main News design, which now feature a new one grid structure. Here are all the details.

Google changes the design of the Main News

In the past few days, you may have noticed that Google.com looks slightly different when looking for news. The carousel “Main News” Google on desktop has in fact been revamped with a new grid structure, more tidy and clean.

Instead of showing the “Main News” as one ready or a carousel, Google has now decided to use a grid. As for minor stories, they appear with a layout 2×2, while the most important topics have larger tabs, images and titles.

In the images above you can see the new design chosen by Google.

Google said it “will organize the results by story so it’s easier to understand what’s most relevant” when there are “more user search stories.” This design was first introduced on mobile devices in 2019 and is now coming to users desktops around the world. Regarding the change, Google said:

To generate these clusters, we use a variety of machine learning techniques, including BERT models to go through related articles and determine where one story ends and another begins. Our research has shown that grouping results into clearly defined stories is critical to helping people easily navigate results and identify the best content for their needs.

It’s similar to the way Google News view stories and help visually distinguish main stories from other news items. For example, if you search for “NASA news”, you might see the results grouped under multiple separate news items. For more information you can consult the official website.
