Google Stadia has officially released its latest game before the scheduled shutdown of the service, which will officially take place tomorrow, January 18, 2023. The latest title released is called Worm Game, a video game initially developed by the Stadia team to test the service’s features but never made public.
“Play the game that came to Stadia before Stadia came to the world,” reads the description. “Worm Game is a humble title. It won’t win game of the year, but the Stadia team spent a LOT of time playing it and we thought we’d share it with you.”

In addition to having published its latest title, Stadia also wanted to thank the users who have used the service over the years. “Thank you for playing and for everything,” the company wrote in a tweet.

After announcing the closure at the end of last year, Google Stadia confirmed that players would receive refunds for all titles purchased through its store. Stadia officially launched in November 2019, but for much of 2022 it denied rumors that it would be shut down, following the closure of its internal development studio in February last year.
The announcement of the definitive suspension of the service then came in September 2022.
Yesterday Google Stadia announced that an upcoming update for its controllers will also make them usable on different devices.
