In a press release, Sony PlayStation has unveiled the launch of the Gran Turismo World Series, the first global event dedicated to Gran Turismo 7: let’s find out all the details together

Called precisely World Seriesthe cup will be structured in two different leagues: the Nations Cupdisputed between the best drivers of different nationalities, and the Manufacturers Cupin which the challengers are called to represent the main car manufacturers.
The first appointment was with round 1 of the World Series. The drivers representing the 12 top manufacturers competed for the Manufacturers Cup in a race that was broadcast yesterday, July 23rd. The 16 best drivers of the 2021 Nations Cup, on the other hand, will compete at 3pm today, Sunday 24 July. The races will then continue next weekend, with a live event. The World Series Showdown will bring together the best drivers in the world in the spectacular setting of the Red Bull Hangar-7 in Salzburg, Austria. The first live Gran Turismo event since the 2020 World Tour of Sydney and which will be broadcast live: 12 teams of three drivers each will face off at 9pm on Saturday 30 July in the Manufacturers Cup, while the 32 drivers vying for the Nations Cup will go down to the post office at 9pm on Sunday 31st July.

The Toyota team, champion of the last edition of the Manufacturers Cup, has made a name for itself in online races but Subaru, champion in 2019, seems able to undermine its strong position thanks to the skilled drivers of its team. Genesis will also participate for the first time in the championship, which will be represented in round 1 and in Salzburg. On the Nations Cup front, the stars of the 2021 season will face the fastest drivers of the first online season of this edition in Salzburg. The stakes are very high, as the drivers will compete for a place in the next two World Series and the world finals in November, which will be held in Monaco. The man to beat will be the Italian Valerio Gallo, champion of the 2021 edition.
