Canon announced its collaboration with Visa for Image, photojournalism festival scheduled between 29 August and the following 3 September, during the Pro Week. This is the 33rd consecutive year that Canon has supported the Visa pour l’Image festival, thus confirming its commitment to visual storytelling and photographers who document the most important chapters of history.
The new edition of Visa for Image will be held, with the support of Canon, in Perpignan, in the South of France. Canon has confirmed that it will honor excellence in the documentary industry by awarding the Canon Female Photojournalist Grant and the Canon Video Grant to two visual narrators.
Furthermore, through the Canon Student Development Program, young emerging talents will be able to carve out their space at Visa pour l’Image with the company that will make its printing solutions available. The Canon Female Photojournalist Grant Award is awarded to Natalya Saprunova who will receive 8,000 euros to carry out his project documenting the life of the Evench.
Note that the Canon Video Grant will be awarded to Spanish videomaker Irene baque for his short film. The € 8,000 prize will be used by Irene to carry out the “La Casa de todas” project, in which she will document the life of 16 ex-prostitutes who live in a shelter in the red light district of Tepito.
