The The Honda Civic is: HEV, now in its eleventh generation, is added to the models that electrify the entire range of the Japanese brand, and which will therefore only be sold in a hybrid version. A decision that undoubtedly stemmed from the pressure that the European institutions are putting in place to tighten future anti-pollution regulations.
On an aesthetic level, the new Honda Civic e: HEV maintains lines and proportions very similar to those already known. It is true that, little by little, his forms have softened and that for this model he will opt for a more similar image to the one already seen in its sedan format.
The biggest change, of course, is under the hood. The Civic e: HV uses the i-MMD technology which provides a 2.0-liter hybrid engine accompanied from a new 72-cell battery that delivers its power to two electric motors. While the details have not all been revealed, Honda specifies that the Civic e: HEV offers a total of 184 horsepower for 315 Nm of torque. Values perfectly similar to those of the Honda CR-V and which, as in the latter, should reflect the power level of the electric traction motor. For a more attentive performance, modes have been included Eco, Normal, Sport and the new Individual, which allows separate control of the engine, transmission and control panel.
In the combined cycle, the compact was designed to emit less at 110 g/km in Co2 and to offer less than 5.0 l / 100 km, according to Honda.
Inside, the Honda Civic e: HEV sports a 10.2-inch high-definition LCD screen for the instrument cluster. The infotainment system will be controlled by a 9-inch central touch screen which has been positioned slightly higher for better control. The system will include wireless compatibility with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps. The more equipped versions will also be able to count on 12 Bose speakers to improve the audio experience in the car.
As for driving aids and ADAS safety systems, everything is included in the Honda Sensing. This package includes a front camera with a viewing angle of 100º and improved systems for recognizing lines, signs or pedestrians, as well as motorcycles and bicycles. It will have adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assistance, lane keeping, emergency braking, blind spot sensor and cross traffic warning.
In addition to the Civic e: HEV Honda thinks of three other electrified models
In addition to the Honda Civic e: HEV, which will be available from next fall, the Japanese brand plans to launch in 2023 three other new electrified modelswhich will cover every market segment
The model that has raised the most expectations is the prototype e:Ny1 (this will hardly be its trade name), a fully electric B-SUV that will serve to complement a range that currently includes only the Honda and. From the Japanese brand they define it “A great option for those families looking for their first electric vehicle“, But no further details have been offered yet.
The same goes for the other of the announced models, a new hybrid SUV for the C segment, of which no further details have been offered. In addition, the Honda CR-V range will be expanded with a plug-in hybrid version, but again no further details have been released.
