The film was announced more than a year ago, but this work is also experiencing major problems in production due to the strike that has stopped the work of many products. Unfortunately, live-action is also facing this major obstacle which should soon disappear.
How to Train Your Dragon live-action postponed due to strike
According to a recent report, Universal and Dreamworks have further postponed the release date of the adaptation. It was initially scheduled for March 14, 2025, but to address the problem of the strike of actors members of the SAG-AFTRA union, the film now has a new release date: June 13, 2025. As previously announced, the film will be directed once again by Dean Deblois, who previously wrote the original animated trilogy. Among the actors in the cast we find Mason Thames (Black Phone) e Nico Parker (The Last of Us, Dumbo). The two actors will play respectively Hiccup e Astridthe famous couple from the original trilogy.
The sob story of How to Train Your Dragon
Inspired by Cressida Cowell’s booksthe live-action will follow the events of the first animated film released in 2010, where the great adventure of Hiccup and Toothless. From the first film a trilogy was born that built what is considered one of the most beautiful stories in animation cinema, which ended with the third film of 2019. The story has as protagonists a boy and a dragon, who will have to trust each other to help each other and stop the war between dragons and vikings.
The voice cast includes high-ranking celebrities such as Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, America Ferrera e Craig Ferguson. Among the sequels of the film we find Dragon Trainer 2 of 2014 and Dragon Trainer 3 – The Hidden World. The franchise later expanded with shorts and spin-off series, including Dragons, Dragons: Rescue Squad and Dragons: The Nine Kingdoms.
