I am Santa Claus, the latest film starring Gigi Proietti is now also available in streaming on Prime Video, from 6 December 2021
I am Santa Claus was presented in pre-opening at Rome Film Festival, the October 13, 2021. The film was released in theaters on November 3, 2021 and from December 6, 2021 it is also available in streaming, its Prime Video.
The film is one Christmas comedy for the whole family, which has as protagonists Gigi Proietti and Marco Giallini. I am Santa Claus offers the audience that lightness typical of holiday films, a few laughs but, this time, also a little melancholy. It is in fact the last production in which Proietti took part, before his death, which took place on November 2nd last year.

In I am Santa Claus, he is told of Hector (Marco Giallini), a former prisoner who leads a turbulent and not very stimulating life. Without the support of a family, man has only one goal: to continue stealing. During one of his thefts, he finds himself at the home of Nicola Natalizi (Gigi Proietti), a kind man who offers to host him. In making his acquaintance, Nicola will reveal to the thief who he really is Santa Claus. Ettore, initially skeptical, will be catapulted into a new reality, which can change his life forever.
Besides Marco Giallini e Gigi Proietti, respectively interpreters of Ettore and Nicola, the film also stars other actors already known to the public. Barbara Ronchi, featured in films such as Fai bei Dreams (2016) and Mondocane (2021), is Laura, Ettore’s ex-partner. Antonio Gerardi, radio host and actor of series such as La porta rossa (2017-2019), is Mauro, head of Ettore’s gang of criminals. We will find Daniele Pecci, protagonist of the Hearts series (2021), Natalia Magni presente in The International (2009) e Simone Colombari (The Divine Pigtail, 2021).
The film is directed by Edoardo Falcone and produced by Lucky Red, 3 Marys Entertainment e Rai Cinema.

Edoardo Falcone, who was the last to direct Proietti, he is keen to remember the showman. The director confessed that he wrote the film thinking precisely of the actor, that meeting him was a great fortune and directing him an honor. Giallini, co-star of the film, confessed that seeing the film was really touching and that spending time with Proietti was a privilege.
Nobody expected this new work to become more than just a Christmas movie. I am Santa Claus was welcomed, unwittingly, like a celebratory film, a testament of a great Italian actor. Proietti was in fact remembered by many colleagues for his artistic and human skills, a man full of humility, respect, availability and empathy.
