Apple announced the new iPad Mini just a couple of months ago, but he’s already working on a variant since display a 120Hz ProMotion. This new version brings the screen of the iPhones and iPad Pro to the 8.3-inch body of the iPad Mini. Which according to some users has had problems precisely regarding the refresh rate screen.
iPad Mini, a version with a 120Hz ProMotion display is coming
When users raised the issue, Apple replied that unfortunately the refresh rate problem, different on the sides of the screen, depended on the nature of LCD screens. These screens in fact update the screen one line at a time, something not appreciable to the naked eye. But with a higher refresh rate screen the problem should be even less visible.
The 120Hz display is expected to have the ProMotion technology, seen this year in the iPhone 13. But actually the iPad Pro have been using since 2017. However, it would be the first time that the technology that allows a refresh rate variabile arrives on the Mini model.
ProMotion allows you to reduce the refresh rate down to 10Hz, based on the content on the screen. For example, if you are looking at a static image (a comic page, for example), there is no need for great speeds. This saves resources and battery. But which you can get when you are playing with your iPad Mini: in these 120Hz situations are really visible, the images are much smoother.
According to @FronTron’s report, Apple is currently testing a 120Hz display built by Samsung. This remains only a rumor, but we know that the two companies have collaborated a lot in the past and continue to do so.
Finally, it seems that the iPad Mini with 120Hz ProMotion display should be an updated version of the current model: nothing changes for all the rest of the hardware. But we should get closer to the date of a possible launch to have more precise and detailed information. We will keep you posted.
