KTM updates its “beast” 1290 Super Duke R for the model that will go to dealerships in 2022 with new color options and a EVO version which includes the second generation of semi-active WP suspension.
There are no cosmetic changes compared to the 2020 model which was overturned like a sock at the time, when a new engine, a new chassis and improved electronics were introduced. For model year 2022, KTM has thought of only two new color options, one which is a mix of blue and orange and another in silver and orange. Obviously, the orange multitubular chassis, present in all the sportiest models, could not be missing.
Mechanically, the new KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2022 is based on the specs of the 2020 model. Therefore, it will continue to rely on the 1301 cc two-cylinder LC8 block. This develops a power of 177 CV a 9.500 giri/min and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 8,000 g / min. All this is completed with an exhaust system prepared for the occasion and which, optionally, it can be associated with an Akrapovic release as part of the KTM Power Parts customization program.
New ‘Quick Turn’ throttle control, whose total travel has been reduced by 7 ° and is now completed in 65 °. which prevents the rider from twisting the wrist excessively and dropping the elbow when accelerating hard.
KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2022, the EVO version debuts
It is in the chassis part that the KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2022 excels over the previous model. This is thanks to the EVO version which incorporates the second generation of semi-active suspension WP APEX. Allow to be set on three modes (Comfort, Street and Sport) and they also allow a fully automatic adjustment. With the optional package Suspension Pro, Track, Advanced and Auto modes are added. The latter takes care of detecting the different driving styles and automatically adapt the fork and shock absorber. In addition, this package also offers three automatic preload leveling adjustments.
Another optional feature is a function anti-lowering which maintains the height of the axle front even in the event of more violent braking. Finally, the braking system could only be Brembo, with Stylema calipers, 320 mm front discs and 240 mm rear discs with the Bosch 9.1 MP 2.0 ABS system.
Finally it 5 inch TFT screen has an adjustable angle and comes with a simpler menu structure, allowing for greater levels of customization. Thanks to KTM MyRide it is possible to control the parameters of the bike or manage music or calls. Both the KTM 1290 Super Duke R and the EVO version will be available by end of January 2022.
