Waiting for the new Lancia Ypsilon, how was the car renewed? With the latest restylings, some aspects have been modified which concern, for example, dimensions, passenger compartment and interiors. After its birth in 2011, the car has certainly not lost its appeal, and the small changes implemented have made it possible to improve some aspects in a non-secondary way. With the restyling, the Lancia Ypsilon 2022 has seen a change especially as regards the front, with the luminous signature modified by the presence of daytime running lights LED.
The grille, on the other hand, has kept its gem shape, but has adopted vertical chrome strips. The profile and bodywork of the car have kept the characteristic egg shape of the Lancia Y and the same can be said of the alloy wheels, which have kept the typical Y-shaped design. The boot has kept the capacity of 245 litres, proposing a well-usable compartment thanks to its regular shapes. After being the second best-selling car in 2022 in Italy, the Lancia Ypsilon has taken a big step forward with the restyling in terms of on-board technology. Lancia has in fact improved comfort and also the quality perceived inside the passenger compartment. Any examples? With the most recent restyling, a wireless charger for smartphones, a 7” touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a rear view camera were introduced. Not only that, the passenger compartment has been enhanced with blue trim for the dashboard and door panels and green inserts on the gearbox and steering wheel.
But that’s not all, Lancia Ypsilon has also certified its great commitment to sustainability with its seats upholstered in Seaqual Yarn, a specific type of recycled plastic that comes from the Mediterranean. In short, while awaiting the advent of the new Lancia Ypsilon, the Turin-based company has decided to take the car’s interior to a new technological level. The shapes of the interiors, in particular, have not changed much compared to the past. However, it is enough to take a quick look at the plastics and couplings to touch an increased level of perceived general quality.
Lancia Ypsilon: the available versions
While awaiting the new generation, today those interested in this successful city car can choose from six different trim levels: Silver, Silver Plus, Gold, Gold Plus, Ecochic GPL e Alberta Ferretti. The entry level trim level to the range, the Silver, already offers various standard elements which include: manual climate control, set of 15” wheel trims, headlights with LED DRL, radio with DAB+ and steering wheel controls, ABS, EBD, ESC with Hill Holder, driver, passenger and side airbags, split rear seat, height-adjustable driver’s seat and height-adjustable steering wheel.
The Silver Plus trim also includes the addition of 15” Style rimsfifth place homologation and equipped rear seat split 60/40, external rear-view mirrors with electric control and lumbar adjustment driving seat. The Alberta Ferretti trim level, on the other hand, adds rose gold internal and external details with the Alberta Ferretti logo, rear headrests, leather steering wheel and gear lever gaiter, radio with 7” touch screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity.
Lancia Ypsilon hybrid: all the advantages and features
The electrification process involved also Lancia and the Ypsilon, of course, was the undisputed protagonist. With the recent restyling, the hybrid Lancia Ypsilon was in fact presented, a car that shares the same electrified powertrain and a 1.0 three-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine with the hybrid Fiat 500. 70 cv. The mild-hybrid technology of the Lancia Ypsilon allows for a considerable improvement in performance, precisely in terms of consumption, compared to the classic Ypsilon with heat engine 1.2.

In terms of performance, the 70 HP Hybrid Ecochic 1.0 engine can reach a maximum speed of 163 km/h with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 14.2 seconds. In this case, it is available with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual gearbox. Aesthetically, the hybrid Ypsilon has the same classic lines as the model, with the characteristic rounded shapes and successful color combinations, which increase the sensation of exclusivity perceived on board.
In short, while waiting for the new Lancia Ypsilon, the hybrid version could be an excellent compromise solution. Sophisticated in design, the car convinces even years after its release on the market and the hybrid unit allows significant savings in running costs. Finally, despite the really compact dimensions (3840 mm long, 1680 mm wide, 1550 mm high and 2390 mm wheelbase), inside you can enjoy plenty of space to always travel in maximum comfort.
