What better way to celebrate one of the most loved and followed film sagas in the world than with a special version of an equally legendary car? This is what Land Rover must have thought when they thought about the birth of the new one Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition. Based on the already adorable Defender V8, this version celebrates the presence of the English off-road vehicle in the 25th chapter of the James Bond saga, No Time to Die, out in theaters on September 30th. In addition to the charismatic 500+ hp V8 under the hood, the Bond Edition is packed with details and quotes to the most famous secret agent in the world. Will he also have a license to kill?
Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition, the base is the (fantastic) one of Defender V8
Since the changes to the mechanics, for once, are few, let’s see them immediately and then concentrate on examining all the elegant and unique details of the Bond Edition. Available in 90 version with 3 doors and 110 with 5 doors, the basis on which this celebratory version has started is that of the new Land Rover Defender V8. For the uninitiated, the biggest difference with the other Defenders is the V8 engine under the hood. This 8-cylinder in fact makes this version of Defender the most powerful and fastest ever produced. On the new platform with a supporting body, which has made Defender less naked and raw off-road, making its road behavior decidedly more civil, Land Rover has mounted the beloved 5.0 V8 supercharged with supercharger shared with larger Range Rovers and several Jaguar models, including the sporty F-Type.
On the Defender, the 5.0 delivers well 525 hp and 624 Nm of torque, and obviously comes with 8-speed automatic gearbox e four-wheel drive. Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition also shares the modifications to the frame, more rigid, to suspensions, stiffened and with a new calibration, to the transmission and at steering, both more responsive. In addition, electronically controlled suspensions and a brand new one appear as standard electronic rear differential, Active Electronic Rear Differential. The result? The fastest, most agile and most powerful Defender ever.
The performances, after all, are truly amazing. Despite weighing well over 2.1 tons, the Land Rover Defender V8 is capable of cover 0-100 km / h in 5.2 seconds, and get to well 240 km/h. All with a sound nothing short of unforgettable.
The novelties of the Bond Edition: golden logos, blue calipers and total black livery
Let’s find out in detail the special feature of Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition. If in fact from a mechanical point of view it is a “classic” Defender V8 like all the others, both inside and outside the Bond Edition stands out. From several chapters of the 007 films, in fact, land cars of the Jaguar-Land Rover group are the cars of the bad guys, as opposed to the Aston Martin used by James Bond. And also in No Time To Die, the 25th film of the franchise and the last act of 007 starring Daniel Craig, our Bond will deal with these powerful and very bad Defenders.
And the aesthetics respect their role as villain. Made from the special projects version of Jaguar-Land Rover, the SV Bespoke, Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition features a truly stealth total black livery, both outside and inside. The bodywork is obviously black, and is completed by the pacchetto Extended Black Pack, which makes badges, logos, details and steel panels on the hood completely black. The rims are also matching, 22 “ and painted in Luna Gloss Black. Think that even the front and rear full LED headlights are completely black.
But there are two details that stand out about all this obscurity. The rear logo Defender 007, with Bond’s serial number in gold, and the very special ones front brake calipers painted in Xenon Blue, a very eye-catching electric blue. Inside, you are greeted by the illuminated door sill with the specific Discovery 007 logo, and the total black interior still hides small exclusive details.
In fact, the Pivi Pro infotainment system has a customized start screen with the Defender 007 logo, and on a dashboard panel is laser engraved the SV Bespoke logo, and the wording One of 300, one of 300. Finally, the final touch to this crazy special Bond Edition is the light shining on the ground from the rearview mirror. This light usually bears the Defender logo: here, however, the logo replicated on the ground is just that of 007.
How much does Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition cost? And how many will be produced?
On an already beloved and cult car like the Land Rover Defender, the English house has created a truly special version. The union between the V8 engine, stealth aesthetics and references to the immortal saga of 007 make the Bond Edition a object of desire for many collectors. And consequently also the price and the specimens available are from a limited edition car.
Land Rover will only produce 300 Land Rover Defender V8 Bond Edition units. Looking forward to seeing Defender on the big screen, from 30 sevenmbre, in the new movie of the 007 saga, No Time To Die, it is now possible to order the exclusive Bond Edition. You can choose between the 3-door version 90 and the longer and more practical 100 with 5 doors, but do it quickly. The 300 specimens in fact will not last indefinitely, and the price it is not really a discount: it starts from 137.700 euro. For (wealthy) James Bond fans who want the fastest Defender ever, that won’t be a problem.
For us petrolheads from all over the world, on the other hand, all that remains is wait to see Defender V8 in action on the big screen, ready to give Bond’s Aston Martin DBS Superleggera a hard time with its 525 HP.
