Legends of Runeterra: new expansions and modes are coming

New expansions and modes are coming: respectively, let’s talk about the latest region of Legends of Runeterra and the new PvE

We haven’t talked about it since February, but Riot Games just communicated on Twitter the new expansions and modes arriving in Legends of Runeterra. The card game will draw two substantial innovations from the IP mother League of Legends. The first of them is a new region, the last: expansion Beyond the Bandlewood will introduce characters to the mystical world of Bandle City, where Yordle champions like Teemo, Tristana, Corki and more come from. Although the tenth region is also the last, the director Andrew Yip reassures us: the characters we will see later will be associated with the regions that make sense for them.

New modes, but no more expansions for Legends of Runeterra?

New expansions aside, we can’t hide behind a finger: as you may have guessed from the title at the top, Legends of Runeterra is also about to receive a player versus environment mode, or PvE for friends. In the 2.13.0 version of the game, in fact, it will make its way Lab of Legends: The Saltwater Scourge, with which Riot Games intends to shake the status quo while expanding the existing Lab of Legends mode. In this mode it will be possible to progress in a similar way to RPGs. Let’s let the tweet itself speak for us, given the video presentation it contains.

The mode will see us take on the role of Twisted Fate, Miss Fortune or Tahm Kench, making our way across the map to “attack fights, unearth treasures and spend the hard-earned gold” preparing for the clash with Gangplank. The new mode will be available with the next patch, while the Bandle City expansion will come on next month. Andrew Yip has stated verbatim that “your favorite champions from Ixtal, the Void or elsewhere in Runeterra” will not be excluded just because Bandle City “is the last region”. We will find out more about what Yip means in time.
