LG announced its first foldable laptop: LG Gram Fold, with a flexible 17-inch display. This product joins other similar products on the market, such as theASUS Zenbook 17 Fold and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. But it represents LG’s entry into this emerging market, where the company can make a difference with its great experience in OLED panels.
LG Gram Fold, the company’s first foldable laptop
LG is showing off its new foldable laptop directly on the company’s Korean online store, where it shows off the device from every angle. When fully opened, the LG Gram Fold offers one 17 inch OLED screen with a resolution QXGA+ di 2560 x 1920 pixel.
This display touchscreen It offers a large surface area for the user, especially when you open it all the way. You can use it to browse the web, watch multimedia content or work on creative projects. The versatility of the device improves thanks to the possibility of connecting it to a Bluetooth keyboard included, turning it into a fully functional workstation.
Like other foldable laptops, the flexibility is through the roof. When the laptop is foldedthe top becomes a 12-inch screen, while the bottom part turns into a virtual keyboard for typing. This innovative design offers the flexibility to use the device in tablet or laptop modedepending on user preferences.
Resistance and performance
A fundamental aspect for foldable devices is the durability. LG says it has tested its Gram Fold model to withstand 30,000 folds without damaging the display. The Korean company is famous throughout the world for the OLED displays of its products: it cannot afford mistakes with this new foldable – and seems to have tested the device extensively. Foldable smartphones usually have tests with more folds, but that’s because we open and close them much more often throughout the day.
Performance-wise, the LG Gram Fold is powered by a processor 13th Generation Intel Core i5 and offers RAM that the company claims to be 15 times faster than LPDDR5 5,200 memory. These specs promise adequate computing power for a variety of tasks, from online browsing to multitasking and content creation.
The operating system will be Windows 11 and will include the functionality Sync On Mobile, which makes it easier to transfer data from your phone to your device. This should further guarantee the “mobile” attitude of the device, which will above all be used to have a large and flexible display on the move.
Will LG Gram Fold arrive in Italy?
LG Gram Fold is expected to arrive in Octoberbut will initially be available only in Korea. We don’t know if it will also arrive in Italy: the production of this type of device is usually limited, but there is hope.
As for the price, the model will start from 4.99 million won (around 3,500 euros), in line with other similar devices on the market. Furthermore, the first 200 customers who purchase the laptop will be able to get it for 3.99 million won (around 2,789 euros), an incentive for early adopters of this technology.
