Apple will bring i chip Silicon even on the desktop Mac Pro in last three months of 2022, completing Apple’s transition to M processors. The chip should be a M1 Max “dual”, with up to 128 cores dedicated to graphics.
Mac Pro with Apple Silicon chip arrives in the last three months of 2022
The leakster @DylanDKT has revealed that Apple will present the new version of Mac Pro in the last three months of 2022. The new device is expected to have a version of M1 Max, the chip we saw on the 16-inch version of the MacBook Pro. But Apple wants to make the most of the space with a “dual” version of the processor, which should have extra cores.
In fact, if the M1 Max chip has 8 + 2 CPU cores and 32 GPUs, the Mac Pro version wants to overdo it. Will come to 40 cores for the CPU and for the graphics we come to fino a 128 GPU. A computing power that promises to be truly exceptional, for the most powerful product of Apple. But it shouldn’t be a new version of the chip M2, which Apple is expected to unveil for laptops and iMacs this year.
Furthermore, the latest rumors suggest that Mac Pro could remain the only product in the catalog to be available, at least initially, in an Intel version. In fact it seems that Apple wants to eliminate the versions of mac mini e iMac with Intel processor.
The new generation of Silicon processors instead should have an M2 processor, which should be based on a new architecture. We will find it on MacBook Pro 14, but also on a new one MacBook Air with 13 inch screen. The difference should be in the process size: we are currently on 5 nanometers, but it seems that TSMC has already provided the new processes. But Apple wants to bet on the safe side for the first generation of Mac Pro with the Silicon chip.
However, all these news remain unofficial, there could be news and denials in the coming weeks. We will keep you informed.
