George Miller has shared some details on a new prequel linked to the historic post-apocalyptic Mad Max franchise
We are anxiously waiting to see Furiosa, the prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road arriving in theaters at the end of May after its grand presentation at Cannes Film Festival. However, it may not be the last time we speed through the desert streets of the post-apocalyptic world created by George Miller.
The director of the saga himself, in fact, made it known during an interview that he has a new story linked to the franchise in the pipeline and which, apparently, could bring the protagonist character back into vogue Max Rockatanskyplayed by Mel Gibson in the first three films and by Tom Hardy in Fury Road.
The possible prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road
During the production phases of the reboot released in theaters in 2015he revealed, a lot was written to give the character a backstory before that adventure:
We wrote what happens to Max in the year before. And as we get closer to the end of Furiosa, the timeline basically lets us know that Mad Max was lurking somewhere, because we know what happened.
The writers, essentially, are very clear where Mad Max was in the previous year and precisely this one could be explored in a new film:
We have a whole story about it, which I would love to do sometime, if I get the chance. We are certainly working on it. Like I said, we wrote it basically as a novella and now we have the ability to turn it into a screenplay, we'll take it from there.
About Max Rockatansky's true identity and his absence in Angry there has been a lot of speculation. At this point it is not excluded that the author of the saga himself wants to fill this gap and give us a new great adrenaline-filled and unbridled action film. In the meantime, let's wait to see Furiosa. As known, the character will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy and the story set several years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, where according to the director himself we will also see the protagonist character of the franchise again in a cameo.
