Marvel innovates with Marvel Spotlight: the new Marvel label which will group together a series of minor works from the MCU, let’s find out together what it is
The new series Echofor which a trailer was released a few days ago, will arrive on Disney+ on January 10, 2024. His debut on the platform will inaugurate Marvel Spotlightthe new label of the MCU, a label that will also be the introductory logo, created by the Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchinofor some works of the House of Ideas.
Echo inaugurates Marvel Spotlight: the new MCU label
This new label represents a subcategory which will include all those TV series, medium-length films or, more generally, independent products which exist in the Marvel Universe, but are not closely connected to the main events of the cinematic universe. They are therefore products that yes subtract from the general timeline of the Multiverse Saga. The subcategory takes its name from a series of anthology comics introduced in 1971, reserved for readers of comics who did not follow the main plot and who were more oriented towards independent stories. The news was announced at the special preview screening of the first two episodes of Echo at The District at Choctaw Casinos & Resorts in Durant, Oklahoma, for Cockthaw Day, holiday celebrating Native Americans. The news was also confirmed by Marvel Studios streaming chief Brad Winderbaum:
Just as comic book fans didn’t need to have read The Avengers or Fantastic Four to understand the Ghost Rider Spotlight comic, audiences won’t need to have seen any other Marvel series to understand Maya Lopez’s story in Echo.
Even though Echo finds itself in the Marvel Spotlight category, the series will still tie into the MCU, although perhaps to a lesser extent. In this series we will review the characters of Maya Lopez e Kingpin (played again by Vincent D’Onofrio) continue their story shown in the series on Hawkeye. Several Marvel series have connected to the films, such as WandaVision with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessor as the most recent Secret Invasion which will connect to The Marvels, but Echo seems to be the first series to not connect to anything other than continuing the story of the protagonist started in the Hawkeye series.
