Square Enix has released update 2.2 of the Marvel’s Avengers, which introduces a new four-player raid against the evil Klaw and a new PlayStation-exclusive hero, Spider-Man. Let’s take a look at all the content coming with this update and how to orient yourself once downloaded.
Marvel’s Avengers: Spider-Man arrives and much more
In addition to the new raid and new hero, the update introduces several new improved systems, including:
- Loads – Cargo functionality provides a new way to obtain cosmetic items, assets and other items through gameplay, a highly sought after option by the Marvel’s Avengers community. Each load costs 500 units (the currency you can get by playing Marvel’s Avengers) and draws from a collection of around 250 possible items, with a limited chance of awarding a premium costume that is not otherwise obtainable. But it doesn’t take luck to get the costume – players will automatically receive it after claiming 100 shipments.
- Increased power level – The maximum achievable power level has been increased from 150 to 175. Acquiring the best equipment will require you to complete the game’s toughest challenge: the new four-player raid, Klaw’s Raid, Discordant Sounds in elite mode, the higher difficulty level.
- Equipment upgrade – Players can recycle equipment of a higher power level to upgrade the current one to the power level of the consumed item, with some exceptions.
The update then further expands an already content-packed game, introducing new features and expanding the game’s storyline via the Avengers Initiative. Marvel’s Avengers now offers several campaigns, nine playable heroes (ten on PlayStation platforms) and cooperative multiplayer action for up to four players.
About the new raid: Discordant sounds
The Marvel’s Avengers raids are one of the defining tests of the game’s endgame team. They will require advanced tactics and the full cooperation of a team of four players equipped with the best equipment available. The raid offers two difficulty levels: normal and elite. The latter complicates the challenge even further, but also offers the best rewards available in the game.
