The Piranha Games developer is happy to announce that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and expansion Heroes of the Inner Sphere will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation5 starting September 23, 2021.
After 20 years, the BattleTech franchise returns to PlayStation platforms. Featuring full cross-play support for all major platforms, including Steam, GOG.com, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One X, Xbox One, and with over 30 new and improved features, it’s a great time to join forces with fellow Mercs and friends around the world to immerse yourself in instant, co-op action.
MechWarrior fans will also be able to purchase a physical edition of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries for PlayStation and Xbox in November. In addition, the developer Piranha Games also confirmed that all players of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will be able to experience the entire campaign of Heroes of the Inner Sphere when they join a match hosted by anyone who owns the expansion, regardless of platform.

Five “guidelines” for better and more enjoyable gameplay:
- Supporto Cross-Play: Battle alongside friends in four-player PvE co-op mode
- Sharing DLC: Experience the entire campaign of Heroes of the Inner Sphere via a co-op match hosted by a player who owns the expansion
- Lots of gameplay improvements: Full 360 LOD radar (with BAP available with DLC), more extreme conditions and effects, upgraded AI, upgraded recovery crates AND MUCH MORE
- Campaign updates: New introduction to the story and optional tutorial
- UI improvements: Ability to track encounters and where to hunt desired Mechs, instant loading of previously selected mechs and pilots, modding updates, among others
