The Michelin plant in Alessandria celebrates its first 50 years of activity. The industrial site was founded in 1971, quickly becoming a reference point for the national production fabric. The plant covers an area of 50 hectares, employing 950 employees. Furthermore, on the occasion of the 50 years of activity, the Michelin of Alessandria has reached a historic milestone. In the factory they were produced well 30 million tires.
50 years of activity for Michelin in Alessandria
The site Michelin of Alexandria is an important reference of the group’s production. The plant, in fact, is specialized in the production of dtires for trucks, civil engineering, agriculture and subways, both Michelin and BFGoodrich.
The current production capacity exceeds million tires a year, with a varied dimensional mix. Half of the production is destined for the European market while the remaining half is distributed in all the main world markets.
Important companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Daf, Iveco, Volvo, Man and Scania are direct customers of the Italian Michelin site. The plant has 950 employees with an average age of 42 and with an average seniority in the company of 20 years. More than half of the employees are also shareholders of the company.
The company focuses on sustainability
The Michelin plant is increasingly focusing on sustainability. The Alessandria plant has, in fact, intensified its efforts to implement solutions aimed at minimizing the ecological footprint through the implementation of an internal circular economy. One of the sustainability goals for the next decade is to achieve one 50% reduction in the consumption of water and biological solvents.
Florent Menegaux, CEO Michelin, underlines: “Tomorrow, at Michelin, everything will be sustainable. Being sustainable is not just a matter of taking care of the environment. What is important is the integrated vision of making and growing profits, involving people and taking care of the environment “
