The most important Italian festival dedicated to science fiction is preparing for the 22nd edition, scheduled from 1 to 6 November in the Julian capital at the Politeama Rossetti and the Miela Theater. It will be present at the Trieste event Neil Marshall, acclaimed director of films such as Dog Soldiers, The Descent and the TV series Game of Thrones, who will participate in the festival as president of the jury of the Asteroide Prize and will premiere in Trieste his latest film The Lair, a colorful horror sci-fi. Trieste Science + Fiction also announces the first films of the 2022 edition, a national preview selection dedicated to all the declinations of the fantastic genre, which ranges from disaster movies to dystopia, passing through comedy and horror, anticipating a vast program composed from films selected all over the world for the three main competitions: the Asteroide Award and the two competitions silver melies of the MIFF, the Méliès European Federation of Fantastic Film Festivals (Méliès International Festivals Federation).   • NIGHT SKY by Jacob Gentry (USA, 2022)
  • Rubicon by Magdalena Lauritsch (Austria, 2022)

Trieste Science + Fiction inaugurates the collaboration with the London FrightFest, selected among the 20 most important festivals in the world, through a synergistic promotion and an authentic twinning between the two film events. Sunday 28 August at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square in London on artistic director Alan Jones will hold a presentation dedicated to Trieste Science + Fiction, followed by the screening of the film Control which will also arrive at the Trieste festival in November. Also as a special event, Trieste Science + Fiction Festival will also present the comedy splatter Wolf Manoralso having a world premiere at FrightFest, a metacinematographic work in which the production of a low-budget vampire film in the dark English countryside is attacked by a werewolf.
