This is that feature that allowed us, in case we were undecided about what to watch, to receive a direct advice from the platform algorithm. After all, isn’t the waiting in search of the film the film itself? Probably not.
In any case, the feature has never really entered the hearts of users and, given its total inactivity, Netflix has seen fit to remove the button. Silently though, without many announcements. In fact, no one noticed.

Netflix was introduced to the platform in 2020, albeit in testing for a few lucky users. After a good year of testing, also thanks to a pandemic that made us consume the entire catalogue, Shuffle has arrived globally in 2021. At the base there was a simple concept: the algorithm knows you and knows your tastes, if you don’t know what to watch it will amaze you. It is no coincidence that for a very short time, in Italy, the function was renamed “surprise me”. But no one was really blown away.
At the end of 2022, however, Netflix understood that the function did not interest users too much. These, according to the words of a spokesperson, arrive on the platform with a very clear idea of what they want or don’t want to watch. In short, viewers do not like the idea of relying on “chance”, although the Netflix algorithm is anything but random.
