After months of announcements, postponements and explanations, in the end it’s Italy’s turn too: Netflix has started to stop sharing subscriptions in our country too, let’s find out all the details together in this dedicated article
After implementing it in several other countries, such as South America, the Sword of Damocles finally arrived for anyone who shared the Netflix account with friends, family or acquaintances. Already in the past few hours, the changes that the company has put in place to prevent, through the exploitation of “screens”, are arriving in the e-mail boxes of all subscribers people share accounts even if they are geographically distant from each other. So the concept of “household” comes into play, within which you can continue to share your account. Those who are not part of it, but are still in possession of the password, will have to pay €4.99 a month to continue using the company’s vast catalog of films and TV series.
The announcement, given in the company’s official channels, reads:
Starting today, we’ll start sending this email to subscribers in Italy who share their Netflix account outside of their home. Your Netflix account is for one household only – you and those living with you. Everyone in your household can watch Netflix wherever they want (at home, on the go, on vacation) and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices. We understand that there are many entertainment options available. For this reason, we continue to make significant investments to always offer you new movies and TV series, so that there is always something on Netflix for you, based on your tastes, your moods, your language preferences or people with you want to watch Netflix.
Your Netflix account is for you and for everyone you live with, which is why we’ve introduced new account management features in Italy as well. And yes, you will be able to continue watching Netflix without problems even when you are on the go! https://t.co/ierHalUHIL pic.twitter.com/G6AJ3We9EA

Even in Italy Netflix prohibits shared subscriptions: and now what?
There are therefore two options for those who shared accounts in the past. The first is named “Transfer a profile”, with which anyone using a particular account can transfer their profile to another paid subscription. The second, however, is called “Buy an extra user”with which you can share your Netflix account with those who do not live with you at the additional cost of €4.99 per month.
And in short, the “free ride” is over for many people who took advantage of the possibility of creating shared Netflix subscriptions, even in Italy, to save a little.
