Produced for what is now only a satellite studio of Disney, the ex-Fox 20th Century Studios, Nobody Will Save You stars Kaitlyn Dever as Brynn Adams, a girl removed from her community, locked in a solitary but not without hope existence, within the comforting walls of the house in which she grew up. One night some noises make her believe it’s a break-in, and in fact someone is penetrating her world, but it’s an alien invasion, to deal with which she can’t help but resort to herself. Writer and director Brian Duffield commented on the idea behind No One Will Save You:
I wanted the film to start out as an intimate character study and have an alien invasion descend upon it. The end of the world won’t be just for those who are ready to face it, and the idea of a film about aliens abruptly breaking into the bubble that our character has spent years building and nurturing seemed like a unique way to tell a story I had by heart. I think there’s a deeply buried feeling that any alien invasion movie could turn out to be true, because they remain an unknown in our daily lives. As our world spirals further out of control, perhaps there is also a desire that there is something smarter than us out there, who can help us find our way back. The aliens in No One Will Save You are superior to humans in every way, which makes Brynn and his surprising endurance a little disconcerting to them.
