NVIDIA is preparing to revolutionize the world of PCs with a new ARM processor expected in 2025 and it seems that too AMD is ready for launch. Both will follow Qualcomm, which is expected to announce its own computer chip today. Competition in this field has never been higher.
NVIDIA and AMD are working on an ARM processor for PCs
With artificial intelligence set to become the centerpiece of computing technology in the coming years, NVIDIA’s role cannot be understated. But the company is also working on creating a ARM processor for consumer PCs.
According to Reuters (via DDay), this move would not have been dictated by a personal initiative by NVIDIA, but would have been a response to a specific request from Microsoft. To work on machine learning and increasingly improve Microsoft’s artificial intelligence.
NVIDIA isn’t the only company ready to challenge Intel. Also AMD has announced that it is ready to launch a ARM chip series in 2025. This move comes at a crucial time, as the exclusivity that Microsoft had with Qualcomm for the production of expires Windows-compatible ARM processors.
Additionally, Qualcomm is introducing a new processor designed exclusively for notebooks. While the previous Snapdragon 8 CX was originally designed for smartphones and later adapted to PCs, the new one Snapdragon X was born with the aim of revolutionizing the world of PCs.
With NVIDIA, AMD and Qualcomm joining the race of ARM processors for PCs, the competition becomes more and more interesting. While Intel has long dominated the industry with its x86 architecture, it will now find itself having to defend its leading position.
