The release date of Mission: Impossible 8, stopped halfway through filming due to strikes in Hollywood, has been officially postponed by Paramount to 2025
Nothing to do for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two (or Mission: Impossible 8) which until a few days ago was hoped to meet the release date initially scheduled for June 2024. It won’t happen: the Paramount Pictures has revised its release calendar, in light of the continuation of the actors’ and actresses’ strike (hopefully being resolved like that of the screenwriters) and for this reason Tom Cruise will return as Ethan Hunt in 2025.
Mission Impossible 8 postponed to 2025, A Quiet Place Day One takes its place
Paramount Pictures is reviewing its plans for Mission: Impossible 8 starring Tom Cruise. Filming stopped at the beginning of the summer for the promotion of the seventh chapter, Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, but they never left again due to the SAG-Aftra union strike, which is still ongoing. Work was stuck at 40%, and with a possible return to the set for the end of the year / beginning of next year, the timing no longer allows the major to guarantee the old release date, June 28, 2024 in the USA. For this reason Mission: Impossible 8 is postponed to May 23, 2025. Moreover, with a title still unknown: the decision to change the title of Christopher McQuarrie’s film is probably linked to the insufficiently strong outcome of the seventh act at the global box office: 567,535,000 dollars for a cost of 291 million. The new title will be announced later.
As for June 2024, Paramount has decided to release A Quiet Place Day One, initially scheduled for release in March: the science fiction horror thriller sees Lupita Nyong’o face the invasion of super-hearing aliens, this time in the crowded urban context of New York, and not in the rural and peripheral areas of the United States, where until now the saga started by John Krasinski had taken place.
