The two new Ampere-based cards should complement the high-end offering. the expected release date of NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti is May 25, while for NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti it will have to wait at least until June
Two pieces are still missing to complete the high-end market at the Santa Clara house. NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti is certainly the most anticipated, the real top of the range of the 3000 series, excluding the RTX 3090 which replaces the Titan, which will play on equal terms with the top of the range AMD RX 6900 XT, both in terms of specifications and price according to rumors. This is a highly anticipated product by fans because it should bridge the limits of the RTX 3080 that are seen in some very demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077. Instead NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti has always been a bit muted, although it could partially fill the large gap between the RTX 3070 and the 3080. Perhaps this model is a little less attractive because it would be a bit limited for 4K, but oversized for QHD. Those who want the QHD could opt for the smooth 3070, saving money, while those who want to play in 4K would do better to focus on a 3080 or higher. Let’s see the release dates of the latest graphics cards!
NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti: Released May 25
On everyone’s lips for several days, now the release of this new top of the range is a matter of weeks according to the latest rumors. The NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB FE (Founders Edition) graphics card is expected to feature a PCB design encoded as PG132-SKU18 and the GA102-225-KD-A1 graphics chip. It looks like the latest reinterpretation of this GPU will have 10240 CUDA cores for a total of 80 SM units, almost as much as an RTX 3090 which has just a handful more. The new top-of-the-range video card should deliver a clock speed of 1365 MHz in base and 1665 MHz in boost, slightly below the flagship RTX 3090 probably due to the TGP which should remain the same as the RTX 3080 or 320 W.
As for the memory, the card will be equipped with 12 GB of GDDR6X memory (even at the beginning it seemed to be 20). Unlike the 19.5Gbps speeds of the RTX 3090, the NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti is expected to maintain the same memory speed as the RTX 3080 of 19Gbps. It is also assumed that the new graphics card will use a 384-bit bus interface for a theoretical total bandwidth of 912 GB / s. That should still be enough to power the huge 10,000-core chip, although a slightly more generous buffer would have made this GPU longer-lasting.
NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti is scheduled for release on May 25 at an assumed price of $ 999, of course. The card is expected to feature a new hash rate throttling mechanism in mining algorithms, more resilient than the somewhat weak one we saw on the RTX 3060.
NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti: Released in June
NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti is expected to feature the GA104-400-A1 GPU, the same as the 3070. NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti will use the PG141-SKU10 SKU, however. The new GPU based on the Ampere architecture will present 6144 CUDA cores organized in 48 SM. These are 4% more CUDA cores compared to the GeForce RTX 3070 and about 30% less than the GeForce RTX 3080. The big step forward we do it on the front of the memories that should go from GDDR6 to GDDR6X, therefore much faster however the quantity will always be 8 GB (there were also rumors of a 16GB version). The card will retain a 256-bit bus interface and pin speed should be rated at 19Gbps like the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti, so we’ll have a theoretical band of about 608 GB / s. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti will have a TGP likely to be around 250-275W to make room for perhaps higher clock rates.
NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti output should be fixed in June, probably towards the end even if we don’t know the details yet. This new card will also have the next generation hash rate limiter. The price is not officially known, but it might be reasonable to place it at $ 599 about price list. But perhaps the most important doubt is that of quantity.
