Netflix shows the first images of Annette Bening in the trailer for Nyad, a biopic dedicated to the true story of the swimmer who crossed the ocean
After sharing the first images and a short introductory clip, Netflix presents to the whole world its Diana Nyad, played by Annette Bening in the first official trailer of the biopic which tells his true story. Diana Nyad broke a record that many thought impossible: swim from Cuba to Florida, facing waters infested with sharks and jellyfish. But one stroke after another and supported by her coach and best friend Bonnie (Jodie Foster), Diana achieved this incredible goal.

Diana Nyad attempted four times to accomplish the same goal, but always failed. But once over 60 years of age and with a career as a sports journalist behind him, she understood that she wanted to challenge fate once again and surpass herself. Strongly believing in her own potential and with the support of her friend and coach Bonnie, Diana started training again to beat a record never touched before. Thirty years after the last attempt, she wanted to give voice to her obsession by taking a journey on water from Cuba to Florida, a stretch that experts have called the Mount Everest of swimming and in which no one before Diana had ever even attempted that feat, one more reason to succeed. Despite being 60 years old, Diana dedicates four years of her life to excellent preparation so as to face Swim 177 kilometers.
After the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi e Jimmy Chin they wanted to tell another true story, that of Diana Nyad, in a film coming to streaming on Netflix. Regarding the making of the film, Vasarhelyi revealed to People the happiness of being able to work with two great actresses such as Annette Bening and Jodie Foster. The film is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2023.
