OKP Life K5 review: a silent and versatile robot vacuum cleaner!

Let’s discover together, in this dedicated review, how the OKP Life K5 robot vacuum cleaner behaved during our test: from its potential to its noise, through to the degree of cleaning, here are all the details

OKP Life is a small Chinese company based in Shenzhen. A young and promising brand, if you will, and one that seeks to stand out in the manufacturing of smart home appliances, especially robot vacuum cleaners (here you will find the best in our opinion!), offering innovative solutions at relatively budget prices. And if you are looking for a cleaning robot that doesn’t cost you a fortune and that you can simply use with a mobile phone application, perhaps this review of ours of the OKP Life K5 could be useful to you: we tried it and we have to say which is not bad at all, albeit with some small flaws. Let’s get started, let’s go!

Not the cheapest, but…

The world of robot vacuum cleaners is constantly evolving, with the production of ever new machines of more than varied budgets. Whether they are simply vacuum cleaners or also have the function of floor cleaners, these pieces of electronics they are the joy of all technophiles and of those who don’t have that much time to dedicate to cleaning the house. You could also decide to activate them while you are at work, so as to return later tired and exhausted, but with at least a clean floor. If you are looking for a medium-low budget product, we can advise you to focus on the OKP Life K5. It’s not the cheapest product from the Chinese company, it’s true, but it’s not among the most expensive either.

Packaging | Recensione OKP Life K5

The OKP Life K5 package included, obviously in addition to the robot, also the base on which it could be recharged with the relative power cable, four brushes and an additional filter. To get it working the first time, that’s enough connect the charging station and, while it starts, mount two of the four brushes by turning the robot upside down. Open the small cover on top of the robot and turn it on, then place it on the charging station.

Let it get some energy, depending on the level it reaches (in our experience, the first full charge took an hour) and in the meantime download the app and connect everything to your Wi-Fi. From the application you can rename your robot, give it a routine and assign it specific tasks, in a rather simple and immediate way.

Optimal size | OKP Life K5 review

The first thing that immediately caught our eye, in addition to the minimal and rather cute design we would dare say, of the OKP Life K5 it is its contained size. It weighs just over 3kg, and is less than 10cm high, with a diameter of approximately 33cm. You will therefore understand that its short “stature” makes it particularly versatile even under furniture that is closest to the floor, as well as very versatile in its movements. OKP sponsors its duration of two hours without recharging, and we can confirm that approximately (more minute, less minute) is actually how long a complete cycle lasts before running out of charge.

The front walls are covered with a small pad of foam, which unfortunately attracts large amounts of dust and which you must be prepared to clean frequently to avoid its accumulation. On the other hand, however, prevents the robot from hitting fragile walls too violently, although we admit that we noticed a fair amount of “intelligence” once set well in the app, and that it manages to dodge most of the furniture. And, another thing we’ve noticed, is that the more we use it, the better it seems to know the map of our home.

Noise! | OKP Life K5 review

Another factor that goes a lot in favor of the OKP Life K5, and which we cannot fail to mention in this review, is the noise level. We assure you: it’s damn quiet! We realized that if we activated it from another room, we initially had to look into the living room (the one we chose for this test, because it is the one with the most furniture of all) to verify that it had really come into operation. It never got stuck anywhere and always returned to its charging station at the end of the job. Obviously, if you increase the suction level, the noise also increases, but never to pathological or particularly annoying levels. In short: you can also use it early on a Sunday morning without getting shot by the neighbors.

How does it work? | OKP Life K5 review

If we analyze the cleaning work carried out by the Life K5, we must admit that the robot manages to do an excellent job on hard surfaces, especially if tiled. A particularly sore point, however, is its ability to work on medium-high carpets. Considering that the two brushes placed at the front mainly work, which are not that aggressive and energetic, it is normal that dirt tends to remain on the carpets and that, in any case, the robot is not that effective even with the highest suction level.

For all other types of floors, from the aforementioned tiled, to marble, to parquet, the OKP Life K5 It works great for a low-medium range robot. We didn’t have the opportunity to particularly test its intelligence regarding stairs, because our reference house doesn’t have them, but considering the level of precision with the furniture we have little to speculate about.

Let’s keep it clean | OKP Life K5 review

Finally, cleaning the machine. Simple and effective, you just need to lift the small top cover of the Life K5, the one where the power button is also present, to immediately view the bin. To open it, just lift it, open it over a rubbish bin and discharge all the accumulated dust. Pay particular attention to the brushes, which are particularly thin, but appear to be equally durable. As for the filter, however, as it has a pre-filtration area, it remained practically unchanged after our intensive use of the OPK Life K5 for this review.

Conclusions

In short, we have reached the conclusion of our review of the OPK Life K5 robot vacuum cleaner. If you are looking for a home cleaning helper with good value for money, this could be the product for you. The small size allows it to reach even the most unexpected corners, and the excellent mapping through the application prevents it from losing a speck of dust. The only problem is that it doesn’t work as well with carpets, especially medium-thick carpets. If you have several, we advise you to provide another type of cleaning. For the rest: very useful, versatile and precise! Advised.
