A great achievement for the film dedicated to one of the most famous manga. One Piece Film: Red takes first place at the box office
It was back in 2001, when Italia 1 aired for the first time one of the manga destined to make history: One Piece. Now, 21 years after that day, the adventures of Luffy and his wacky crew never cease to amaze, thanks to the new film One Piece Film: Redin Italian cinemas starting from December 1, 2022.
Plot
Uta, the most loved singer in the world, with an extraordinary otherworldly voice, hides many mysteries. In addition to concealing her true identity, she is Shanks’ secret daughter. For the first time, she Uta decides to reveal herself to the general public, on the occasion of a live concert. For the occasion, all her admirers, bands of pirates, members of the Navy and even the Straw Hat crew arrive on the island of Elegia. At the beginning of the concert, however, the audience understands that Uta’s voice actually has the dangerous power to change the world. Luffy and Shanks will thus begin a tough battle for freedom.
One Piece Movie: Red is directed by Goro Taniguchi and produced by TOEI Animation. The film is based on the worldwide successful manga by Eiichiro Oda, producer and author of the new film. In Italy it is distributed by Anime Factorylabel of Plaion Pictures.

In ItalyOne Piece Film: Red opens its run placing at first place at the box office, equaling the results obtained in other parts of the world. In Japan turns out to be the most profitable film of the entire franchise, exceeding 18 billion Yen (over 124 million Euros). With these receipts, the film is also placed at first place among the anime released in 2022 and the second best debut in the history of Japanese cinemarightfully entering the top ten best movies ever.
If that weren’t enough, the rest of the world has also embraced the film with great enthusiasm. In France the film attracted almost a million spectators to the cinema, in Spain over 154,000.
The film is produced in the very year in which the famous manga turns 25 years old. The work has since been able to sell half a billion copies worldwide; even the anime has not been outdone; in fact, having now exceeded 1000 episodes, it continues to collect successes, in more than 80 countries. In short, a clear example that manga and anime culture is thrivingcapable of gathering fans from all over the globe, able to appreciate all the elements that this genre has to offer.
