Atlus has announced the release of a co-op card game based on Persona 5 Royal. The game is already in development and will be released next year in collaboration with Pandasaurus Games. The company also announced that it will be designing it Emerson Matsuuchiwho has also worked on other board games such as Century: Eastern Wonders and Foundations of Rome.
“Players will take on the roles of their favorite phantom thieves and fight to change the world in this cooperative strategy game,” said Matsuuchi himself.
Although no official release date has been announced, an image on the official Pandasaurus Games website reads: “October 21, 2023 we will steal your heart”. The announcement post refers instead to a more generic “end of 2023”.
What can we expect from the Persona 5 Royal card game
There are no details on the card game at the moment, but we know this will consist of a card-based board game. According to NME it will be a real game, and not a collector’s item for fans.
Also Nathan McNair, co-owner of Pandasaurus Games, expressed his enthusiasm after the announcement. Inside the post McNair wrote that he is a “huge fan” of the Persona franchise. “I can’t wait to bring the palaces, the velvet room and the world of Persona 5 Royal to tables around the world in 2023,” wrote McNair.
The announcement of the card game comes a few weeks after the release of Persona 5 Royal on PC and modern consoles. The title will come in fact iOctober 21st and will be available from day one also on Xbox Game Pass. The previous titles of the franchise will also make their landing on old and new-gen consoles. In particular Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC on January 19, 2023.
