Pixel 6 e Pixel 6 Pro they arrived in Italy. Unfortunately in limited quantities, which led to the rapid depletion of stocks of the Pixel 6 Pro. Don’t panic: a new shipment of Google-branded smartphones will arrive in May. However, you can take advantage of the wait to understand which of the two models is right for you.
We do not delay any longer and therefore we enter into the heart of ours comparison between Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
Pixel 6 vs Pixel 6 Pro: the similarities
The design is the same: both Big G smartphones offer a horizontal rectangle that includes the photographic compartment, with a two-color back cover. For now, Google has decided to bring only the very elegant storm black variety to Italy, but perhaps the other combinations do more justice to the look of the new Pixels.
What else do they have in common? There IP68 certificationconnectivity – including the 5G -, the presence of the fingerprint reader under the display and of course Google’s processor, Tensor. The GB of RAM change, we have 8 on the Pixel 6 and 12 on the Pixel 6 Pro, but the features are exactly the same. You can also rely on all the news of Android 12 in terms of security such as privacy and security dashboards, toggles to disable access to microphone and camera on the fly and anti-malware and antiphishing systems.
What are the differences?
The first can be seen at a glance: the Pro is larger (albeit slightly) and weighs slightly more.
The materials also change: Pixel 6 has a frame in 100% recycled aluminumwith a matte black finish, while the Pro has bezels in stainless steel shiny. On both, however, we find the Gorilla Glass Victus to protect the display from scratches.
Speaking of screen, Pixel 6 Pro if you present with a 6.7-inch curved OLED display on the edges and with resolution QHD+. It is an LTPO screen, a technology that brings with it a better energy consumption but above all the possibility of adjusting the refresh rate. Pixel 6 Pro can therefore go well 120 Hzuseful, for example, for playing games, while when you are not using your smartphone or the screen is fixed it can go down to 10 Hz in order to save battery.
The Pixel 6 instead it has a 6.4 ”display, again OLEDbut here the refresh rate comes up to 90 Hz and the resolution is FullHD+.
The Hertz difference is only noticeable if you put them side by side, otherwise it is difficult to realize since the experience always remains of a high level.
They also change edges: on Pixel 6 they are not curved like those of 6 Pro but the ergonomics are always excellent despite the important dimensions of the device.
Pixel 6 Pro’s rear camera
Another important difference concerns the photographic sector. The largest of the family boasts a 48 megapixel telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom, absent on the younger brother.
The quality of the main and ultra-wide camera is identical but the telephoto lens gives you more versatility. In any case, know that the Pixel 6 has digital zoom, so you can take some magnification at home anyway.
The front camera is also different. Pixel 6 has an 8 megapixel sensor while its big brother comes in at 11.1 megapixels. The Pro can also record 4K video via the front camera, the base model no. In short, subtleties for true nerds.
Finally, we come to the battery: 4,600 mAh on the “little one” and 5,003 mAh on Pixel 6 Pro. They take you both to the end of the day but the bigger one gives you that extra sprint.
Both of them support fast charging at 30W but in both cases the power supply is not included in the package. We also have reverse charging as well wireless charging that reaches 21W on Pixel 6 and 23W on Pixel 6 Pro.
Pixel 6 vs Pixel 6 Pro: Which Should I Choose?
Let’s go back to the original question: which one do I choose? Better Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro?
It depends on your needs and your budget.
Pixel 6 is for sale in 649 € and it’s a great smartphone: Excellent build quality, beautiful display, advanced software features and top-of-the-range performance.
So why consider spending 250 euros more to grab yourself Pixel 6 Prowhich costs 899 €? Mainly for the camera. Pixel 6 performs very well but Pixel 6 Pro’s 4x optical zoom is truly an extra weapon in your hands. If you are passionate about photography it can make a difference. If photos aren’t your priority in life, you could go headlong to the younger brother.
