Sony is working on a new component of the PlayStation ecosystem: the project in question is called PlayStation Q Lite and, according to early reports, it will be a portable device meant for play in Remote Play with the PlayStation 5. It is not, therefore, a real portable console from an accessory to be combined with the PlayStation 5. Here are the details:
PlayStation Q Lite: An upcoming PlayStation 5 Remote Play device from Sony
The debut of PlayStation Q Lite should take place during 2024. The accessory will not be able to play games independently but can be connected remotely to the PlayStation 5 to allow users to play on the go (but always having an Internet connection available for connection to the console). The PlayStation 5 will have to take care of playing the game.
Despite the expectations, therefore, Sony is not working on a portable console and will not launch a successor to the PSP and PS Vita in the future. The success of the Nintendo Switch has not convinced Sony that, for the moment, it will not go beyond the Q Lite (a project still to be officially confirmed) preferring to focus on other sectors, such as VR.
We will know more shortly. As previously mentioned, in fact, the project should only debut in 2024 when the PS5 Pro will probably also arrive.
