PS Plus April 2022: PS4 and PS5 free games announced

With the month of April upon us, the free games for PS4 and PS5 that will accompany PS Plus subscribers have finally been announced

Having passed the last week of March, we can finally say that spring has really comeand with it also several important innovations: in recent months there were rumors about a certain project with the name of Spartacus, the bearer of a revolution of the PS Plus service, which would have led to a “merger” with the streaming of PS Now. And apparently, these rumors were quite accurate: yesterday Sony finally unveiled a new type of PS Plus, which is divided into three distinct levels, each with its own benefits (which you can go to deepen in the dedicated article) and which will come into effect from June. This means that, at least for the next few months, the PS Plus will not undergo changes of any kind to its features or its price, so as usual also in April they will be given to all subscribers of the new PS4 and PS5 games. But no more chatter, let’s go and see what they will be.

The new additions

As we said, in April we will not yet have the pleasure of trying the features of the three levels of the new PS Plus, but in any case you will still be able to enjoy the free games for PS4 and PS5 offered periodically by PlayStation. In March there were several interesting titles, including Team Sonic Racing, Ark Survival Evolved, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends and Ghostrunner, and starting from early April they will be replaced by other games, which will be: Hood Outlaws & Legends, Slay The Spire, Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom. Continue reading the next lines to learn more about what kind of games they are.

Hood Outlaws & Legends – PS Plus April 2022: free PS4 and PS5 games

The PS Plus of April already presents a game that could be quite fun to play with the company of your friends (as long as they own a PS4 or PS5). Set in a medieval and predictably very brutal world, within a ruthless and uncontrolled realm, Hood Outlaws & Legends is a title multiplayer PvPvE comparable to games like Payday, where rebels and villains will fight each other to claim some glory, robbing the tyrant and oppressive government. The matches you join will feature two teams of four players each, where each participant will have to find a way to steal a precious treasure, worrying not only about what the enemy team might be up to, but also about the intervention of the artificial AI that will control the enemies.

If, on the other hand, you are not particularly in the mood to throw yourself into another multiplayer game, or you prefer something more “stimulating” and tactical to play, do not despair: in the PS Plus there will also be a title rather appreciated by both critics and gamers, released in 2019 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and mobile (but not yet on PS5). It is about Slay The Spire, a brilliant title of deckbuilding, which is combined with roguelite RPG mechanics. The game does not follow a precise plot, and is focused on building your deck to advance between the various fights. But the actions that will be carried out, in the end of everything, will aim at a single purpose: the eternal cycle of dungeon crawling.

Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom – PS Plus April 2022: free PS4 and PS5 games

Last on our April PS Plus games list for PS4 and PS5, Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom is the remake of the same platformer game released way back in 2003. The original title is considered a timeless classic of the period, but its reissue released in 2020 did not get the same reception. In any case, it is still a rather nice title for those who want to relive the adventures of Spongebob on the newest consoles.

These were therefore the PS4 and PS5 games added to the PS Plus in April. They will be officially available once the April 5, and will remain free to download for all subscribers to the service until May. These are not extremely exciting titles, but being usable completely free of charge they can still be an excellent pastime in case you do not know what to play during the next month.
