The next-gen turning point … of the next-gen: the release of a “Pro” version of PS5 and Xbox Series X / S seems to be relatively close
Although the pandemic took its part to make the current versions of PS5 ed Xbox Series X (ed S), of course it didn’t take long for the former rumor circa the release of a “Pro” incarnation. The unlikely source of these new rumors is neighboring Poland, and apparently we also have a window period to talk about. In his presentation on Polish soil, TCL Technology revealed that a mid-generation upgrade is planned between 2023 and 2024. Since even the graphically less competitive consoles are ready for longer life cycles, we invite you to caution in reading the article.
Pros and cons of a hypothetical release for the “next-gen and a half” version of PS5 and Xbox Series X / S
It would not be a vaguely reliable rumor, the one about the release of PS5 Pro and the new Xbox model, without an established insider. For this reason, in the tweet below we can find photos of the slides shown at the conference, which Tom Henderson proceeded to report. In this case, as is to be expected, we are talking about a “half generation of consoles”. The new models aim, according to the rumor, at no less than sixty (and one hundred and twenty) frames per second for a resolution of 2160p. There is therefore talk of an Ultra HD 8K output with a framerate between 60 and 120.
In a new conference, TCL Technology have said that a new Xbox Series S/X and PS5 Pro are coming in 2023/2024.

AMD’s Radeon RX 7700 XT is also mentioned. This GPU includes an RDNA 3 graphics core: to give an idea, the architecture of the current PS5 and Xbox Series X / S is “firm” at RDNA 2. The revisions of the two consoles would also boast an 8 GB RAM (GDDR6 ) for better ray tracing performance than RX 6900 XT. What remains to be understood, for those who chew the jargon of technical specifications, is the reason behind releasing this information to the public. However, we remind you that TCL Technology is the second company in the sector of monitors and TVs capable of managing such an output: there is interest in… generating interest. Of course, for Sony and Microsoft the no-comment.
